Spotted this little number on a local Aussie version of a worldwide site, and well, see if the eagle eyed among you can spot the reasons why asking AUD$2,300 for this might not be just outrageous, but the worst deal deal of all time

This is putting aside my usual objection to people who go apesh$t over mythical E Series nonsense (i had one as my 1st guitar, theyre not all magical, like ANY Fender guitar), and of course the stupidity of relicing.....did i mention relicing is stupid and needs to die yet?

Fender Stratocaster Custom Relic

A$2,300

Fender Stratocaster E Series 1984-1989 era Japanese Stratocaster. Rebuilt by Harron’s Custom Guitars in Melbourne. The team at HCG did 5 of these rebuilds documented on their page. Guitar is an Aged Relic in Daphne Blue over the top of Sunburst. HSS : Bareknuckle Pickups. Stainless Frets, Hardware, Tuner, Bridge assembly. One of the most comfortable Strats i have played. Neck is stunning and chunky and plays effortlessly. Comes with SKB Hardcase

Ill give you a few free bits of info, theres NO documentation pages on this or any of the supposed 5 guitars like it on that guitar shops pages, that guitar shop seems to exist only to sell tickets to "set up" "Masterclasses" and trying to flog (sell) you guitar cleaning products, so to my eyes, they look like Amway. No one i know in that state who is a guitar nut has ever heard of them.

Some of the close ups highlight the issue (because looking at one of the one thing i consider heretical on a Strat is the key (no its not the humbucker, but thats also a clue)) and some close ups show the only genuine part of the entire guitar (though theyve now ruined that too). The one genuine part, when attached to the correct other half of it might get AUD$1500 on a good day....and those are all the clues im handing out

Gotta love people that do 10nsecs of research and then start calling things out as fake with no proof.

You're likely 100% wrong here.

Why? Harron's Custom Guitars does JAPANESE CUSTOM BUILDS.

Wait. What's that you posted? A JAPANESE FENDER? HMMMM

All you had to do was read a little bit. It took me less than 3 minutes to find this on their website. So why didnt you?

And here's their facebook PAGE, HCG JAPANESE CUSTOM BUILDS. Wanna bet this guitar is on it? Edit: they havent posted there since 2018 but the point still stands. That guitar is likely 100% real and 100% rebuilt by HCG Your crappy searching skills doesn't mean it's fake.

Next time, you might refrain from trying to call people out without concrete proof.

Instead of lashing out, in what im sure feels to you very much like a "gotcha" moment, please read my post again, pay special attention to the section that clearly says: "theres NO documentation pages on this or any of the supposed 5 guitars like it on that guitar shops pages".

p.s. i too found that page

For the rest of you, while the angry man goes back to consider his poor choices, please continue to look for the obvious problem with this scam of a guitar

meanwhile @Wound_Up (youre not lying with your username), if you want this guitar, ill happily give you his number/email and let him take you like a fool

Nobody's angry and my choices weren't poor.

I stand by EVERYTHING I said.

What is an "E series"? Serial number?

To be fair, even my E series's high E just made it onto the fretboard, it seemed normal on them

Again i dont know why people seem to think these are holy grail guitars, or necks in this case
Yeah it's always a bit of a compromise with vintage bridge spacing but that is not well setup. I actually have a partscaster with an E series neck and it is a peach. As usual there is probably a grain of truth behind the hype.

Yep. For some reason people think this was a specific series of Japanese made Fenders, when in fact E serial numbers were used on all sorts of mid '80s Fender Japan and Squier instruments. My ST57 has a E serial number, and is quite a different guitar than a Contemporary Stratocaster with an E serial number is.

My '89 HM has an E#. Which makes it even worse since there were HM's fully assembled in Japan and ones assembled in the U.S. from Japanese parts so they could put the "Fender USA" plate on them.

For people who didnt get the main issue with the guitar (putting aside the terrible paint job), thats a Squier body...two posts.....and the humbucker should also be a huge tip off

So that AUD$2,300 Fender guitar is a partcaster/scamcaster ......

I have an American-made E-series neck in my partscaster. It's an '83. Fantastic neck.
