We played last Sat. and Sun. in the Noyo Harbor - what a great view! This is only a partial look at the harbor, but it's sure a pretty place to work.
It was, they pay OK-ish and feed us and let us have a couple drinks. But the best part is playing with Jack!
Is that along California 1...? You have to leave the 101 to stay on the coast? I think I've been through there. Gorgeous, at the time anyway (1972 just after returning from Asia). I hitchhiked all along the west coast. The people were very welcoming to a long haired hippie freak nursing a broken heart.
Yes, and I really like that combination. The guitar is a Tele copy, but the neck is wonderful and the bridge pickup sounded better than the Fender pickup I tried and removed.
Cool. My LP Special has P90s and I like them. When I get around to it, I will be building a Tele-type guitar. It will be my first build and I'm looking forward to it. Great resources here and elsewhere for info. My other guitars have mini humbuckers and Fender single coils.
Man that looks like a nice gig. Love the P90 in the neck on my tele, combined with the humbucker in the bridge its a really nice combo. "Miss, I'd like to order a Guinness and the Seafood Bisque followed with the Grilled Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger please".
I play a few marina gigs, yacht club gigs. They are great, right up until dusk. Then the gnats swarm in. Like one of the 10 plagues! I use a fan, blowing on full, to discourage them from flying in my face. I'm on the east coast, so i don't know if you experience the same thing out there in cali.
I'm not sure I'd want to eat gnats on purpose. I've eaten plenty by mistake. Having a gnat fly down your windpipe in the middle of a vocal..... funny for those around me..... lol, for me , not so much.
I have the steel-guitar like big bridge plate pickup - but I also play steel guitar. to me a Tele needs that to be even an Esquire. I'm sure your tele sounds quite good. It seems a humbucker in the bridge and a P90 in the neck is a common combo. I'd do the opposite! I always want the darker pickup in the neck.
Consider many options on the Tele build. Frankly, the essential issue is, do you use the big plate bridge pickup assembly or not? If you have P90's and mini humbuckers (good pickups I have never liked enough to use, but that's just me - and they are a good neck PU for a Tele!) than you might consider other options such as the Fender Seth Lover humbuckers in this: sorry for the big jpeg
