    Hello all,

Been playing off and on for a long time. Have learned and forgot more songs than I care to think about. Just need more time to play. But, I love music, love playing the guitar, acoustic mostly. Some time ago I bought a maroon 2006 Mexican Strat and a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10s. The Fender proved to be too much for what I do so, I sold it. I will eventually pickup something like a Fender Champ x2. First, however, I need to reacquaint myself with the electric guitar.

I love forums, rebuilt a BMW 540 from a forum, learned to flatpick an acoustic from a forum. So, I have high hopes here.

If it's not too forward, I would like to also ask for help with a finish problem. My basement flooded a couple of months ago. My strat was in it's case in the basement. When I got around to checking on it the case fuzz had stuck to the bottom of the guitar. The bottom of the case had apparently gotten wet. I've attached a picture. Any recommendations on how to clean this up?

Midnight Wine... nice color. Welcome to the forum. Once cleaned up do post some pics of your guitar so we can all ogle. I started into electrics about 2 yrs ago. This place has been a great resource but the members here make it a lot of fun too.

Here is my strat, lonely amongst several acoustics. WHen I bought it I didn't know much about strats. Especially how easily one can be made to look authentic. I purchased the instrument a young lady and was told it was a 2004 Mexican Stratocaster with a custom neck. The wood was specially picked by her when it was made. "It's tanner in color and was hand crafted to perfection from Callaham himself."

The guitar is in over all good shape, the body has only a few light scratches on the back which you can see in the picture. The marks on the front are just reflections. And, there is that one black pick guard screw.

    IIRC, I paid $250 USD.

    So, what do you think?

Here's an update from Bill Callaham:

"Unless she is the wife of a well known artist and we did a restoration years ago on a real preCBS Fender, it is not our neck. We would not even consider making a neck for a 2004 Mexican Standard."

    So, there's that. :)

Hey, there are some old houses in Norfolk with basements believe it or not. Had a buddy who lived on Colonial Place that had a basement.

Welcome from Ireland Popeye. Sorry to hear that you’re guitar has grown a beard. What have you tried to remove your growth so far?

Haha, it did indeed grow a beard! But, yes @garyhoos1 suggested hot soapy wash cloth. Worked like a charm. I completely over thought the problem.
