Couple of really tasty "budget" Gretsch in my local store right now..

G5655T Electromatic Center Block Jr with Bigsby - Casino Gold (£650)

    2509801579_gtr_frt_001_rr.png

I'm very impressed with the specs for the < £700. Binding inc. bound f holes.
    Bigsby etc.

This thing is screaming my name too .. looks like a BANGING guitar for the money:

G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club P90 - Mint Metallic (£350!!)

    2806700549_gtr_frt_01_rr.png

This has a bolt on neck, wrap around, filtertron bridge, p90 neck, master vol and master tone.
Super simple .. and crazy good price ..

    So so tempted!

Love that G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club in mint. I am trying to downsize since I plan to move soon. But if something happens where I do not move then I am buying that for sure.

I'm seriously checking my flare right now. That's just a lot of boxes ticked for me for pretty much no money.
No hassle wrap around bridge, no distracting push pull/splitting bs controls, bolt on (bound!) neck so it's easy to do fret work ..
It's not even made in China lol

Edit: £299 inc free delivery via google shopping. Sold! I'll never be rich ..

A while back I played every 5000 series Gretch semihollow in the shop (about a dozen.) The only one that felt right to me was the T, and TG.

What did you think of the fret work? I'm done with Epiphone and their nasty scratchy fretwire and frankly weird (fat narrow crown) shape frets.

Those look great...but looking in my wallet has extinguished any gas I had.

Yep... It's a brand that I was never into. Didn't really fit my style of music.
But I've been wanting to branch out... and the 12 string is really nice looking.

I'd like to play one though.

    Exactly.
I didn't care for the Stray Cats... I was a metalhead.
I started to appreciate him more recently... last 10 years or so.
We really enjoy his Christmas specials and have bought a couple of the DVDs that we have passed on to friends.

I think you need to buy both models. You will sooner or later anyway.
Says the guy who now has 7 Gretsch guitars.

I love Gretsch guitars and have owned several. I now have a G5220 model in Jade Grey and I think this one is really a keeper. I have had it over a year now, and it remains in my "favorites" category! It looks like this (it's a solid body) :

Gretsch is the only guitar company whose product I don't have GAS for. Other than their thin, solid body electric model I just don't get along with them. They look great but they just don't feel good to me.

I hear a lot of people saying that. What is it specifically? I'm comparing it to Epiphones in the same price range, which are absolutely the definition of "doesn't feel great" to be fair..

Ha! I wish. Not sure if its coincidence but the only proper guitar shop near me is called "PMT". :D

Epiphone feel great to me lol. The big body Gretsches feel stiff to me if that makes sense. I had the same issue with the old Dean Stylist guitars. Very well made and gorgeous, but I've owned 4-5 trying to find one that I could play and it just didn't happen. Not saying they're bad at all, just not for me.
