dig it !
I saw the rich Corinthian leather the pickups were sitting on and I thought .. spoiler alert.
I voted for Ricardo too, but it looks like rich Corinthian pickups for Antstrat.
No, I think Bodean is Ricardo Montalban, and Elvis lives in his basement, winds pickups, cuts leather, and works for fried banana sandwiches, no cash. Word on the street is they've been seen cruising Main Street at night in a Cordoba. That's enough proof for me. Anyway, back to the pickups, are you going to do a sound demo for us like Helter did, or just leave us in suspense?
I don't have any recording devices in which you should all feel a huge sense of releif. Once I get them installed this weekend I'll do a little write up though.
Actually that's bubble wrap that Brittney once used as a bra. It's even autographed.
That was a bonus.
I voted for Britney.
I have a set myself...they are just awesome.
I need to get one of his artistic straps, maybe a Mt Rainier scene.
When my band opened for Missing Persons in the early 80s, Dale Bozzio wore a plexiglass bra.
But you don't want me to tell you how he achieves that...
OK, Bodeans installed and summary:
M 6k (RW)
No clue what type of magnets so you'll have to ask the master himself.
Sorry no sound clips either just my babbling opinion. But I do have 2 clips of someone else playing these p/u's so if interested shoot me your email and I'll send them to you.
Installed them in my 08 American Standard (one of my #1's) and spend very little time fiddling with height adjustments. Started flush with the guard and ended up maybe a full turn or two up and that was that. Perfect.
Was kinda expecting something tone wise in the Texas Special range which is fine because I like Tx Sp but no. Also not ultra vintagy thin either.
OK so what then?
If a Fat 50 had a baby with a custom shop 69 that's what these are. Full but not bottom heavy, clear but not over trebly, bluesy as the amp volume increased and very responsive to the volume knob. Yes it also does vintage strat and quacks as you roll back the volume knob but just a bit fuller (I might have said that already, hence I digest) Oh, and the amp I tested them with is a DRRI. I also A-B-C'd against two other Am Standards, one with CS 69's and one with CS Fat 50's so I had some good reference points. The Bodeans don't duplicate either but they compliment both so it's mega cool to have them in the same tonal range and have variety. Didn't get a chance to try any overdrives and such (broke a ******* E string) but I have no doubts they will do just fine.
I love Fender's CS p/u's and will probably continue to buy them that won't change but, and I'm honestly not blowing smoke up Bodean's skirt, I would put his pickups right along side the CS's. And they're a lot cheaper too!
Hope this made sense. If not you know what to do.
Truly a great day!
Sure made me smile!
They are A5/A2 hybrids.
That was a good description. I am so glad you are pleased.
It's the dark matter
