My wife & my 3rd anniversary is coming up fairly soon. Recently my wife was asking what I might want for an anniversary gift, but usually I'm not big on receiving a gift for that.. Usually I'd just want to spend a nice evening with my wife for our anniversary. I got a gift for my wife though (and she knows I did). I was wondering what could make a good anniversary gift for me though, and I had a thought of buying a new guitar.. For a while I've been eyeing Gretsch guitars and thought this one looked like it might be a good first Gretsch (G5230T Electromatic Jet with Bigsby):

I like that it has the Filter-Tron pickups. And since I have 2 Strat-style guitars, this would be a different style of electric guitar from what I already have. ~$550 seems like a fairly good price for one of these guitars, or am I wrong?

However, I haven't been playing guitar much lately. Sometimes I feel like I don't have a lot of time for it, but I still enjoy playing guitar. I'm not sure if this would be the most practical thing for me to buy right now.. Are there any good reasons for/against?

    Happy upcoming anniversary
A guitar as a gift is pretty cool. But think for a minute
Have you tried one? It'd be kinda sad if you got it then didn't get along with it. Whatta do? Return a anniversary present?
    ...... Yeah...right.
So now ya got this cool lookin thing on the wall but ya don't enjoy playing it
Gettin guitars is cool. But this'll be a little more than just a guitar

I would look for a good amp that would compliment your 2 guitars. Much more fun if you ask me

That's true. I'd probably want to visit the store and play one first.

I have an amp I like (Fender Mustang III v2), and I didn't really plan on getting another amp right now.

Definitely go put a few in your hands. Try em out. It only takes a minute to hold a guitar and know if it feels right.

I'm with Bob on this one. Not only is the guitar going to be more than just a guitar from here on out, you just set a dangerous (expensive) gift precedent pretty early on in your marriage. Think about it, you can only go up from here and you (hopefully) have a long way to go yet!

Stick with a nice getaway and dinner and save the guitar purchase for another occasion.
