So to make a long story kinda short. I purchased an allparts neck and took it to my local Guitar Center and asked them to resizee the tuning holes from a vintage size to accommodate Sperzel locking tuners. Tech said he could do it but it was going to be a little longer than usual because they have the pin on the back of them instead of a screw to keep them aligned. Drill holes are not centered, if at any point of want to put new tuners in or plug these old holes its pretty much impossible seeing as a hand Dremel was used. oh and those pins were grinded/cut away too so I cant even buy a new tuner if one breaks because id then need to do more drilling or grinding to fit them in these holes. BTW they are just random depths. Maybe this is more of a vent really but I feel like this is unacceptable work in terms of tech work especially if the tech said he can do it. Ill show some pics to give you reference
I wouldn't be happy with that. Have a polite word with the store manager then if you can't get any joy email GC CEO!
If he didn't want you to see those holes you'd think he'd have put the tuners on straight. They owe you a new neck. plain and simple.
Man, sorry that GC idiot botched your neck. Those are nice tuners, but their install is not straightforward. You really need the install guide ($16) to do them right: And someone who is not a moron with a drill.
I totally understand how weird sperzel tuner installs can be if I had the tools to do it where im at now i wouldve been able to be upset with myself. Now im just mad at GC's tech for saying he could do it. I wouldve been so much better off if he said he didnt have the tools
That's c---p work. They owe you back the whole enchilada. They should make you whole. They're running away from the bill collectors at this point, though, so you might not catch 'em. Sorry for your hassles.
They owe you a new neck. Wow, this is garbage work. If the guy cant do a pro level Job on it.....why take it..... These dudes owe you a new neck, period.
I plan to call them today to see if I can talk to a manager. Ive never been this deep on a project or had anything like this happen so wish me luck
As must be obvious by now this is where you took a wrong turn. I can't think of many reasons why an experienced luthier or guitar tech would want to work for GC. More than likely their techs are former sales reps who know just enough to be dangerous as the one you trusted your neck to has clearly demonstrated. Sorry you had to have this experience to find out the one who worked on your neck was another bozo. I agree that GC should replace the neck for you so you can take it to a tech who has the knowledge and tools to do the job correctly. That was bad work.
I actually talked to the guy face to face, I will never use GC for anything tech related ever again and if they dont find a way to comp me for the neck then to Corpo I go
