Have just enough time in the morning to flip through a magazine on the train. I subscribe to Guitar Player now, but it’s not cutting it. Not bad, just...meh. Any better ones out there?

Seeing as his it is no longer 1988, I stick with strat-talk.

Exactly what I was going to say. That and acoustic guitar aficionado (I think that’s the name)

Yeah I only have one guitar that would be considered vintage in a couple more years. I had 2. Sold one back to my son. But that magazine lets me day dream. Would probably make the trip a lot shorter.

I subscribe to Premier Guitar. Lots of player-oriented interviews with all kinds of guitarists and bassists from varying levels of celebrity. Tons of insightful gear reviews. And the subscription is both hardcopy and online magazine (in a very hardcopy-like format). Not sure it’s what you’d like, but for me it’s very readable cover to cover. Excellent publication IMO.

Vintage guitar magazine is usually interesting, I miss the large format it used to be though. Now it's just the same size as every magazine

What are you looking for in a magazine (in addition to capacity...)?
    - New guitar reviews
    - Articles on classic guitars
    - Interviews
    - Profiles of famous players
    - Lessons
    - ...

That's the expensive (like $12 or $16 IIRC) Brit published one, right?
I usually pick one up when I'm in the states. Excellent quality images and good topics.

EDIT: I found an old issue in the office. I was thinking of "Guitarist" and I think there is a vintage version of this one as well. $16USD ($20 CAN), but really nice publications.

But if it was 1988, I would suggest Kerrang. Or RIP.

I was given a 6 month subscription to Guitar Magazine (Guitar.com) if your tempted, don't, it's crap.

I subscribe to Premier Guitar. It is relatively inexpensive and content is good. Like all magazines, I can generally read it all the through in less than an hour and then it is in the stacks. Books last longer.

I have gotten rid of the stacks by reading pleasure books on a Kindle Reader and technical stuff and magazine on an iPad.

They all suck. I used to read GP cover to cover with great articles about music, guitars, lutherie, etc now it’s just ads and reviews for product sales. The Fretboard Journal is the only magazine that is still good, but it’s almost as much for luthiers as it is for players.
