Gwen and Grandpa jamming. She wants to play keys instead of guitar right now. She is learning to tune her guitar and she can’t turn the pegs. The keyboard action is soft. She really likes it.

The cool part is she is developing a sense of where the notes fit and starting to phrase. Can’t wait to see her play 5 years from now.

You definitely can tell she does have the correct sense of where the notes work. It’s just that the communication/coordination between her mind, and her fingers is still developing at 5 years old. She’s a natural! What a blast for you!

Every time she comes over she wants to play guitar or keyboard. My grandson, who takes piano lessons hates music, because he is being forced to take lessons, and refuses to play with us. He only likes video games.

That's very encouraging. Most kids at that age just randomly hit a bunch of keys, as if it was a Fischer-Price activity set. Gwen clearly has a sense of pitch and rhythm. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

hearing this again that guitar is roaring. Really nice crunch and Snarl! she's keeping up pretty wonderfully and the keys sound great as well!

Look forward to more jams from Grandpa and Granddaughter :)

Yeah. Music should be FUN! Forced lessons do not foster a love for an instrument. How many of the thousands upon thousands of kids who are forced into piano lessons, actually stick with it past age 12-13? Probably very few.

I learned to love it as a kid, by watching my brother play, and playing around on a little keyboard/organ thing at my grandma’s house.

My mom said it sounded like a funeral procession, but at least it sounded like something!! Keyboard is a great beginning spot, because it’s as simple as pushing the right button at the right time, to start.

it’s really about discovering things yourself, versus trying to indoctrinate it in, I think. I’m letting my kids start whenever they feel like it, if they feel like it.

this is really cool. The kind of memories she’ll be talking about 60 years from now.
