    Right inguinal hernia repair.

I still get mildly nervous, up until they give that IV. Next thing I know Im in the recovery room.

I had my left side done in 2008 and it was a laparoscopic surgery. I was told this time would have to be an open procedure. I was more worried about my discomfort afterwards than the actual procedure. Im pretty sure Im doing better this time around, aside from an incision thats longer than I thought it would be.

Not supposed to lift more than 10lbs for 6 weeks.

I dont think any guitar I own weighs more than that.

In fact I think my SG will be my best friend (of course my wife is) for the next month and a half.

Fun. I had open surgery on one about 13 years ago. The surgeon said that he had stopped doing laproscopic because he had a lot of patients that felt too good, too soon, and re-herniated themselves.

Good luck. You mostly know what to expect to probably no surprises.

Well the bright side is now you'll have plenty of time for playing and posting! :D

Take it easy and hope you heal up quickly... I know that's painful (not personally, but SIL just had that done a few months ago).

Surgery sucks. But... I suppose being ill or, ummm...dead, that probably sucks worse.

I feel your pain. No, really...
    Here's to hoping you've a speedy recovery!

At least it's over now. The anticipation was probably worse. Don't try being He Man anytime soon though. You'll be right back in there

On Monday I picked up an old friend from the hospital after umbilical hernia surgery. He’s in the same boat as you right now, no lifting of anything over 10 lbs. They told him not to lift anything that takes two hands to lift, which is a bit ambiguous.

He builds mountain and road bikes for a living and was hoping to only take a week off work, thinking maybe he could stick to super light road bikes for awhile, but the last few days have convinced him otherwise. He said the pain is worse than he expected. Like I told him, just take it easy, follow the Doc’s orders and you’ll be back to normal before you know it. And yes, play your lightest guitar and maybe even have your wife hand it to you for the first few days.
