What acoustic do you play? What type of pickup? I’ve never found a pickup that can translate the harmonics of my acoustics like a good mic does.

I have an old Dean Markley acoustic pickup that wedges itself in the sound hole.

It works, but tends to get in the road more often, with that darn cable hanging down.

I'm sorry to report it's nothing special. Takamine G Series. But it does sound pretty darn good when plugged in. The pickup is in-bridge piezo and the electronics are stock. I typically use it with a Fishman Loudbox.

    I'm hip!

Only difference is I use DR Rare strings.

I play .12's, bv DR strings are lower tension, so .12's play more like .10's - .11's.

Actually there are several discussions on AGF about DR tensions. From all info gathered they are not really lower tension they just feel like it on bends due to the round core vs. hex core of most other brands. I’ve been playing the Rare and sunbeams but switched recently to John Pearse. Their 12’s are 157 lbs of tension whereas D’addario 12’s are 168.5. Plus the JP’s have a bit more volume.
