It means guys are still following the fashion of several years ago, before being a "hipster" became passe. I thought this fad was over.

Couple years ago, I pulled alongside a Jeep Cherokee in traffic. It was about 90F and over 90% humidity, a typical Tennessee summer day. Dude with a beard and a toque was sitting in there, windows open, sweat pouring off his face. He looked miserable. People will do stupid things for fashion.

It’s a navy sock hat that rolls down. You know them, you wear them with a pea coat. Usually dark cobalt like the deep ocean.

A real togue (or tougue) has to have a knob on top.
Otherwise you are wearing a Hobbit's sock.

I have a large bald spot so wear driver caps almost everyday, my favorite is the Fender one; plus wear wide brim vented hats when working in the yard.

Pop culture fashion. That has never made sense, as you know.

The mere thought of this hat business has me going to the muck room to get my Tweed Jacket, Trilby and my winchester, then go looking for something verminous to aim at...

Nice glasses. Not to be a perve but did no one else notice the up skirt shot in the background?

Maybe dude was trying to ward off an ear infection. I call them stocking hats not toques, whatever those are. But they work good for keeping the wind out your ear if you get susceptible to ear issues.

No it's just a nearby place name and something that floats up onto the beach occasionally. Sorry for disappoint. I've never even watched a basketball game before but I think LeBron has great taste in eyeglass frames. Does that count?

If you walk around with a hat on, people will stare.

Say it out loud. Otherwise the humor doesn't work.

    Yep.
I have a nice collection of fedoras, a couple of trilbies (no, a trilby is NOT a fedora!), and a couple of Stetson flat-caps (newsboy).
My everyday wear is the flat cap. Nice occasions get the Stetson Fino Panama, or a fur felt, depending on the weather.
Ya, I know... Memorial Day to Labor Day for Panama, Labor Day to Memorial Day for fur.
    No.
Not in California, or visiting mom in Texas.
    If it's over 75, I don't care if it's Christmas Day, I'm wearing the Panama ;)

They hide the earbuds that are illegal to wear while driving (most US states I think).

Yes, when I was a teenager I was known to where a trench coat in 100 degree heat. I must have looked completely insane.

Nothing beats a good pith helmet for the summer sun. I don't have a picture of mine, but it's great.

Alternately, boonie hats are great. I wear one when I go hiking, soak it in a stream and have air-conditioned head for hours. I've had heat stroke twice when very young and it ain't fun.
