Hope it's only short term. I'm surprised, actually, that we didn't lose power. Seems to happen frequently ever when the storms aren't as bad.

as bad as the wind we had last night, I’m surprised it took as long to go out as it did. Glad I decided to fill the bathtubs with water. Gonna bust out the camp stove once the sun comes out and make some breakfast. Hope everyone else is doing good.

Me too. Haven't seen much outta FL, but they got slammed and it may be awhile before anyone can get online.

Not sure how Jacksonville fared. That's where @Ronkirn is and I know @StratMike10 is also down there, but I don't know where. And there are several others, but it's sort of a wait and see situation till they show up.

Yard cleanup day today here just north of North Myrtle Beach. Tons of twigs and branches. My driveway is green with oak leaves and twigs.

Lost a large tree. Thankfully it dropped away from the house and into the empty lot next door. Turns out it was hollow...rotted through and through.


The tree just to the right in the picture dropped several large limbs, one missing the roof by mere inches. I had to cut it out of Miz Diane's favorite camelia bush...which will survive.

There ended up being some houses damaged by downed trees and some short term power outages in our area last evening. So I'd say we just barely got nicked by Ian. Lucky us. Not so much around the Strand, but I'll let folks with firsthand knowledge speak to that.

Ouch @Ronkirn. Hope the healing is fast. Be careful.

For us in Jacksonville it was just a really nasty rainy day... For those of us in Jacksonville that recently cut off the end of our thumb.. it was a really nasty rainy day with a little less thumb. For those that wanted to recreate life In New Orleans, and build their houses in a bowl, surrounded by water.. it was a really nasty rainy day with wet feet..

For those in South Florida between Tampa and Key West... They will be rebuilding for years... words cannot express the terrible damage they are suffering.

your yard will be easier to mow now, so that's a plus.
we lost a bunch of these shallow-rooted nonsense trees and bushes in the snow storm few years ago and never re-planted. it's better without them useless things.

My neighborhood in Myrtle Beach just has leaves and small branches down. But we are 10 miles inland from the beach. Some coastal towns got storm surge to the second row of homes. Four piers are damaged.

I just talked to a buddy down the street. The houses in our subdivision on the intracoastal had surge water in their backyards and pools. That's around 10ft above high tide...and I'm just 2 blocks and another ~10ft uphill from that!

We got lucky. Stayed mostly east of me. Just got some wind gusts and maybe an inch of rain.

Yikes.... I know the beach took a pounding but it looks from what I can find out, it looks as if most of the damage is storm surge related so as long as they're inland a bit they may have escaped the worst of it. Here's hoping.

I have a son who lives in Charleston. He escaped with just part of the screen blowing off on one side of his screened-in back porch. Has all his utilities.

I'll have to check in on some of my Charleston counterparts. They build the Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Hope they are okay.
