Saw it on a Jag forum I’m on, for what it’s worth, no confirmation from google or anything yet.

Didn’t know much about her. Evidently they married right about the time he left to start G&L.

A 2003 NAMM interview with Phyllis Fender.

Interesting insights into Leo and something I never knew before. Leo had one glass eye due to a mishap he had around age 7. Wikipedia say it was removed due to a tumor but Phyllis tells us it happened when he fell off an ice wagon and a metal post he fell against caused it.

It was mentioned on the Fender Play live broadcast tonight. Natural causes. Still lived in Fullerton. 87, I believe.

I wonder if she was still signing CoAs for G&L, or if she fully retired?
Her position was honorary after Leo passed in '91, so she never actually had to do anything more than he a figurehead.

Burial arrangements might be uncomfortable... Leo is buried in Santa Ana with his first wife, Ester.
The Fenders and Fullertons were good people.

That does seem odd...to be buried with your first wife while your present wife lives on. I am sure there was a good reason. Leo was pretty level.

In fairness, he spent many more years with Ester. He married Phyllis in 1980, a year after Ester died, and he passed in 1991.
Yes, he (as well as George and Geoffrey) were/are (I assume Geoffrey is still around) good people.
Geoff had a blonde Twin that neither of us cared for because it didn't have a master volume. Today, I am attracted to the Oxblood Super Sonic because it reminds me of that old brownface.

I bought a 1990 G&L SC3 that was sort of custom at the time, and he was kind enough to really sign it. I got burned for the guitar in 2014 and miss it like crazy, but it was very heavy, over 10lbs. It was a tone monster though, all stock.
