That's crazy. Angels Camp, and Stockton used to be like the middle of nowhere. There used to be nothing but grass from the East Bay all the way to Sac. Now it's all suburban sprawl.

Yep...riddled with the toxic sludge that once was a pristine estuary to the Bay...which you're not "advised" to eat the fish from due to heavy metals, more than 3 times a week....uhhhh...no thanks then.....lol

If you get back out there again, take the hour drive out to Walnut Creek on as clear a day as you can find and drive to the top of Mt. Diablo.

You can see what man hath wrought. All the way from the Farrallon Islands 45 miles or so off the coast to the west, the entire bay, estuary delta to Sacramento and then Lassen to the North, the entire central valley past Stockton to the snow caps on the Sierras to the East, and the windmills of the Altamont Pass to the South. It's quite a view...but if you imagine what it was like just 50 years ago...it's just sad.

I feel fortunate to have been there when I was.

It is sad. I saw it 50 years ago. Hell, even 30 years ago it was beautiful. When I left in '88 there were still trees and grass.

And here’s my Bronco Billy. It’s a long story but basically my dad bought himself a brand new P-Bass back in 1957 and beat the living shizzle out of it for 40 years and I inherited that beloved beast when he passed away in 2001. Unfortunately it was stolen last year. But the guys at the shop just put together this little baby for me which is a pretty exact “miniature” replica of dad’s bass. They ordered the waterslide to top it off, which we just got in the mail!

I grew up in Marin County. Used to go to the Boardwalk at least once a summer. My former company used to have our company picnic in Santa Cruz. Always loved that place, since the 70's.
Can't afford the Bay Area anymore, so I'm in exile in the Central Valley. I HATE it here.

My Acura took a 4 month vacation to Stockton without me, last year. Car theft capitol of California.

It was a p.o.s. to begin with. Stockton P.D. and Modesto P.D. took weeks to tell me. Impound fees were more than the car was worth. I told them to keep it.
