The st72 has those tuners from the factory. It´s Goothos. The st71 has F-stamped Fender tuners. Looks 100% legit.

Yes it looks fine for an ST72 he says it's an ST72-58 which is likely but it isn't catalogued for that period. That's not unusual for the export models but it means we don't know the specs so I would guess at Basswood and Ceramics but not certain

Is that where we've gotten these days...$900.00 for a MIJ Strat in the US?

Thanks for this info. I think the asking price is high...do you have any insight on that?

Yea, I don’t agree as every MIJ Fender I’ve had has been top notch. That said, $900 seems really high. Even with the used market going insane, I’d say $700? Keep in mind, I’m just completely guessing. But basswood + ceramics leads me to that number, even with the swollen used market.

The body wood is supposed to be sen and the pickup poles flat alnico, however as @balston11 said, they don't always match or (even appear in) the catalogues. As for prices over there, I have no clue. Here they can go from £500-900.

You're not just "guessing...you are correct. In the US (and I'm looking right at you Thrup'ny) $900.00 today, yesterday, and or the day after tomorrow is freaking FAR out of the ball park of reality. Would not buy. Would not think of buying it. And would not get bought. Not here. Not today. Not never.

What are you looking at me for? You don't want to buy, something don't buy it, just like I don't buy overpriced US imports. :D

I bought an '05 but like most from that period it had black covers, knobs and switches.

The staggered pole pups turned out to be alnico and the thing is just beautifully made!

I paid £600 used for my mint example from a National store with free local return in 21 days if I didn't like it and I'm very happy with the deal. I've turned it into a non scalloped 'Blackmore'.
