Yeah I know right. I’m the lunatic though. I’m sure this is a wicked playing guitar. It’s just not the point at $1100. $600 yeah no problem.

The guy I quoted thinks anything he or his buddy’s at GC put together with genuine fender parts can still be sold as a genuine fender Stratocaster. Since all fenders are partscasters.

Perfect example of that is this thread. Puts a sour taste in you mouth really. Either way I’m let’s not cloud this thread up. Check out my thread if you want more laughter.

Wowzers, it takes all kinds. This is why people have to question what it is they’re buying. Not cool at all.
A pickup swap or new pots is one thing, but a neck or body swap? C’mon, give your head a shake. How can you possibly think that is a legit Fender model at all now? What do you call it? Maybe a new model “The Partscaster”.

I am giving my head a shake.
so I guess none of those MIM crafted strats are worth a grand.
    I agree with you there.

I could see it costing $1100 to build it.

per OP the neck is $700
    $250 for the body
    $150 for loaded pickguard

that’s already $1100, and good pricing
Then tuners, bridge, misc parts at least another $100

Oh yeah it would cost easily that much. The case alone is at least $200. I couldn’t build it for less. It’s not like it shouldn’t be worth that, that’s the silly part.

It’s just with a actual AO 60’s Strat it will always be worth more now and in probably in the future. A partscaster will always be a partscaster. I’m sure if he parted it out he could get close to his money back.

If it plays fine I’d keep it. That’s not really the point here. If knowing it was a partscaster he probably could have got it cheaper.

Nice man, thank you. Never had someone write a song about me before. I’m not looking to get you though, just trying to understand your logic. I don’t think I ever will. I’ll just know to keep away from your for sale threads.

Just for the record, there is nothing wrong with partscasters. I like them!
Please never try to pass them off as OEM Fender guitars though because they are not and that is misleading.

    Woah, this blew up!

Update: I negotiated $450 back from the original seller. It was a facebook marketplace sale, so no protection from Reverb or eBay. TDPRI confirmed that the body was from a MiM Hendrix strat, and that the pickups are probably Pure Vintage 65's. I'm working on deciding what to do now.

In the mean time, my $1100 partscaster is now a $650 partscaster. Luckily it still sounds and plays like a gem.

Perfect! $650 is a great price. The parts alone are probably close to $1000.

Keep it if plays so nice, I'd say.
