I guess Im weird in that I hate logos. If it flows with the aesthetic its not so bad. I usually take off all the badging on a car. I mean a Camaro is easily recognizable (to car guys) why do I need stinkin badges? The problem with guitars is you can really mess them up trying to take a logo off. But if you NEED it on there go for it. The thing belongs to you do whatever YOU think is best.

I understand the feel for “F” logo, makes you feel good, since we were kids and couldn’t afford it. All those hours annoying people at guitar stores…. (Hello Atlanta-Show, in Kharkiv!! I’m so so sorry for being there every week and only buying picks and strings).

But even though i have real fenders, i also have two US made squiers, which are absolutely fantastic and better than some of those fenders.. I won’t be changing those decals, even though i wish they didn’t say “Squier”. Primarily so I wouldn’t have to tell people “but wait, they are US made are are very good”.

Put that decal on, it will make you feel better i promise.

if that's what you like.....that's what you like......no shame or discern about that. to each his own.....that's what makes the guitar community great!!!!

Ya know the more I think about it the idea of a custom decal sounds kinda cool.

Is there a go-to source for these? Can you just send a phrase and they make a legit script to mimic the Fender Spaghetti logo?

I have a couple ideas!

I debadge cars too, short of anything "molded in".

Funniest debadged car story: Buddy of mine debadged his Saab, all except for the inset "Saab/Scania" trunk logo.

He parked in the city. Got a parking ticket. Under "Make", the ticket writer wrote "Saab". Since there was no other designation of model on the car, under "Model" it said "Scania".

Oh sure!

Was changing strings so don't let that throw ya!

Franchin body and neck. Overdrive Guitar Works loaded pickguard with CS Fender pups (Fat 50 and Custom '69) and Seymour Duncan SSL-5 at bridge.

Came set up exactly to Gilmour specs but I decked it and put 5 springs on it.
That’s a pricey partscaster but the both Franchin and the od works are top. Good lord od guitar works prices the hell out of their custom pick guard and mini toggle bracket.

About how much you pay or trade rather? I’m a sucker for “the black Strat” and the fender logo. “Almost” all the logos with a few exceptions. I’d put a logo on there…if you ever sell just be honest.

If you ever wanna sale that body hit me up!

I’ve got a couple squiers myself and see no reason to change their logos. One is a 94-95 min Squier Olympic white with rosewood and with the black logo. The other is a classic vibe 70s which is just as good any guitar with a few upgrades and a proper Set up. The laurel or whatever fingerboard it has is the only minor complaint.

My black Strat #1 though.

" I think Fender is REAL good at making guitars that are well balanced and have a great tone across the board. "
Meh. I've owned a couple hundred Fender guitars in my lifetime, probably 40 of those Custom Shops. I have about 20 S-type guitars now, none of them are stock Fender, half are partscasters. If I used a Fender neck I left the decal on. If it was a Warmoth etc. I put my own waterslide on. Fender makes okay pickups, a few slightly better than okay, unless you want to spend an extra $1000 for Abby or Josefina wound. Compare that with RS Guitarworks, Bluesman Vintage, RebelRelic, Danocaster, Fraser etc. who use in-house wound, special made from top winders, or will put in any pickups you want. Any color guitar you want. And with these builders you get Custom Shop quality for the price of a factory made Fender.

Hi,

I'm one of those idiots that derives some weird pleasure gazing at the Fender decals on my Strats/Teles. I've always owned Fenders and usually any non Fender like a G&L just doesn't work for me. Aesthetics as well as tone.

Recently I traded for a better than average Gilmour Black Strat partscaster. Has the same pups as the CS Black Strat and very well made. It's simply the best sounding Strat I've ever owned ( I've owned 4 over the years).

But how can it be "better" lacking the decal? And price tag? :D

Heck the neck isn't marked at all! I mean it's a GREAT neck but lacking the Fender how can it be any good????
Buy the water slide decal for it.
BTW I own several NOS official Fender Necks that were sold unfinished with the water slide in an envelope and no nut slots cut. Warmoth and Mighty Mite also both sell official “Licensed by Fender” necks in 21 or 22 fret versions rosewood and maple fretboards and are marked as such. Real Fender necks have a date stamp or pen date on the heel and the finisher’s name on the flat. So maybe you have a real fender neck or a licensed 3rd party one.
So get over it pop off the neck and if it’s one of the above , go buy a water slide decal and make it official. You will of course disclose this if you decide to sell it and it’s a third party one. Truthfully some 3rd party Strat necks have a compound radius and play like dreams.
Play on brother.

Well from my experience most that need the headstock to look like a fender and say fender there’s no substitute. It will always be in the back of your mind that it’s somehow not real because of the “no name” neck or body. No matter how well it plays or sounds.

That’s why so many of these threads go sideways quick and you found that out already. Even just saying a partscaster is just as good as something even remotely close fender gets people fired up.

If it’s a good player, sounds great then just be happy with it.
I own Fender's from all the decades, beginning with the 60's. I am also very fond of some Partscasters I play out with. The main difference between one of mine that says "Fender" on the head, vs. one that doesn't, is that Fender has a "QC" process before the guitar goes out the door. My Partscasters quality control is limited to me. That doesn't mean that Fender's QC department misses one here and there, but there's something to be said for having multiple eyes, hands and ears on a guitar before it goes out the door.
