Hi, Picked this up in a ox full of pickups a strat body and a couple necks. Enough parts to build 30-40 guitars minus the bodies...all for $10.00. Anyways i wanna build this one as i love the checkered butterscotch paint. Can anyone help me identify what this body exactly is? And what would the "proper" neck be to use on it. In the box was a tele Bigsby also but id have to put screw holes into the body so might not use it if the body is something "special". I dont think i found the holy grail i just wanna learn what ever i can from peole who know what the stampings and writing in the neck pocket are. Think thats the original paint the way its checkered like that? I know you can relic them to look like that but whats your thoughts. Any help would be appreciated. Can't hardly believe nobody ever responded to this. Did you ever figure anything out? Looks to me like an MiM 50s Classic or Player style body. The finish looks to be poly of some kind. I like the way it has finish checked. Did you ever put it all together into a playing guitar?

If it's Fender, it's probably MIJ. Cool looking body, nice score!

Yea, the TL 52ex is a Fender Japan model. Very cool. Hope it comes together just the way you want!

EX is export.. I would run it without a guard

it has a squared off heel ..most tele necks would have that

A butterscotch tele needs to have a single ply black guard with slot-head screws holding it on.

The only other thing that could look right would be to cut a guard out of an old vinyl record - I've seen that done before and it looks pretty cool.

Forgive my ignorance but what does that exactly mean...it is a telecaster body so what does that mean?
