    Hi guys,

I have found a custom shop strat for sale in France (for 1500€) ... so quite cheap.

The seller says that the case and coa was stolen years ago but he says that is a true one of 12 cruz custom shop from 90ies. he live at 2 hours from my home and i ask him some photos to be sure that is a true CS guitar (nor a fake partcaster or a chinese scam)

I'm not sure can you help me ? the history of the Custom Shop is hard to follow !

here is the pics of the guitar tha the seller sent to me.

A custom order ? an early masterbuilt ? an early team building ? the seller talks about an early 90ies Custom shop but for me the relic stamp is not from early cs era

Do you have a serial number??? I'm suspicious of this being fake....the body IS Fender but might not be custom shop.....

Ask him for it specifically. If he gives it you, contact Fender Customer Services.

I have already ask him ... hard ti have an answer from this guy. I will try tincall him again.

I think it looks like a 65 strat CS ... standard production ... very hard to find what are the "one of X" series from the custom shop

I recognised the R. Martinez stamp in the neck pocket and JC verification stamp ... but impossible to understand the signature on the neck, really strange.

When you say, it's look like the real thing ... on which pics / facts ?

I can't tell you if it's real or not but I find it strange that a case and coa would be stolen and not the guitar. More likely the guitar was stolen without the case perhaps :thumbd:. But that's possibly just my mind running away with me:D

All you can go by are the CS decal (real) and the RELIC stamps (real) and the faint but present neck stamps and signatures always on Fenders.

I'm not gonna speculate on whether the pickups, saddles, tuners, etc are original other than that. Pics aren't good.

    COAs get lost constantly.

    My thoughts on this

The body is Fender CS it has the proper RELIC imprint on the correct places

The neck could possibly be Fender CS but I doubt it came on this body. It lacks the RELIC imprint on the heel. As a rule if the body has it the neck should have it too.

This being a John Cruz built hmm... I doubt it since there are no signs of his signature on either body or neck.

1 of 12, well we need to know the series it's referring to. That way we can check the series and see if the guitars in that series match this one. So a serial number is important.

My guess, it's a partcaster of CS parts.

Agreed, more than likely a CS partscaster.

Neck and body are by all appearances 'real', but Sue points out a great point about the lack of relic stamp on the neck heel, indicating a mismatch.

No one in their right mind would sell a limited edition John Cruz built strat for 1500 right now, especially since he doesn't work for Fender anymore.

It smells fishy to me even more so that he's not cooperating with more information.

Me too, if it and the seller are genuine, then the simple things like the serial number wouldn't be hard to get.
