WHAT?? Vintage style Fender necks with rosewood fretboard have no skunk stripe, no plug or anything showing at the headstock, and adjust at the heel....it's 100% normal and I'm shocked you wouldn't know this....
Thank you all for your valuable advice. The guitar sounds good, I think the neck needs to be hollowed out a bit and still optimize the height of the strings. I found the typical sound of the five positions of the strat ... but it is far from sounding like the original 61 slab that I tried a month ago (magic guitar on the serious pickup and a neck to die for) . This 65 is still a very good custom shop. The only problem I have is that the previous owner was a very heavy smoker ... and the guitar smells of nicotine all over my fingers ... and yet I cleaned it three times with disinfectant wipes .
Good move. Congratulations. I would have bought it, too -- depending on price, of course. The important elements were all evident; some of the claims can't really be vberified, but unless you're payng big bucks for the backstory, who cares, really... An older CS is a classic build like that is a really fine thing. That's a terrific guitar and I'm glad it worked out well for you.
Congratulations on a great looking Strat ! As for the smell , I bought a Strat body on Ebay years ago that also had a strong smoke odor . It took over a year for it to finally dissipate !! This was 10years ago and if you get real close there is still a faint odor . Hope yours works out better !!
Hi, @Mr_K Happy Custom Shop Strat Day !! Just a head's up, disinfectant wipes are not safe for nitro finish
So to finish the story of this one ... despite of the quality of this strat, i prefer the slab board type of sound. More bass, the sound is not crystal clear like this one. This strat is more on the Knofler / Gilmour side than SRV / Mayer ... not what i like in fact ... and i am really a teleguy The guitar is for sale now and i will hunt for the next one which will be the "keeper" maybe ! And ... again, what a great forum and great guys here (stratexpert's). I read old topics with relish! Thank you guys for all your supports.
Hey guys, This strat 65 is now sold, she will return in the us in one week, boston, MA. The replacement strat will be a cunetto from 1998. Maybe the keeper... or not
