20211019_181543.jpg 20211019_181708.jpg Was at Music Go Round today and saw this beast. Looks like late 60's or early 70's. Eight speakers with a power amp in the cabinet.

Wow! The solid state ones. Massive. I wonder how it would sound.

That’s a beast. Based on that grill cloth I’d say the left side has the dirty channel. ;)

I imagine that warning label is cautioning the user about armed neighbors. Imagine, six million watts and all the ambiance of a blender!

I read an article years ago about a statistical analysis giving rise to the affect a loud motorcycle late at night has on the population of Paris. It postulated that upwards of 300,000 people stand to be disturbed by that single bike.

This thing has that bike beat by an easy 100k...!

I bet the clean sounds are excellent, and I bet the overdriven sounds will make a person go back to the excellent clean sounds.

According to Tom Wheeler's book "The Soul of Tone" these sold for $2,443 in 1969 which would be more than $12,000 in todays currency. As he further states it was enough to buy a new Twin Reverb, Bassman, Bandmaster Reverb, Super Reverb with money left over. The current asking price for it was $599. Designed for playing large concert halls and outdoor stadiums. Three channels with chorus/vibrato, reverb, and fuzz. According to Wheeler these were built when "power was status and volume was king." If you could move it it would make kind of a neat conversation piece. I read Ike Turner used one of these and the band Focus but couldn't have been many of these produced.

Does it have the built-in "Dimension IV" effect? That was Fender's late-'60s attempt to create a swirly, phasey sound that would appeal to tripped out hippies, i.e., someone like me. But I was underwhelmed by it.

or the look on your band mates after you told them "I'll bring my other amp to the show" and haul that thing into the pub.

Might make the purchase price back by parting out the speakers...the rest of it? Rubbish.

Amazing the most expensive amp produced by Fender in the 60's that today is only worth $600 and the least expensive, the Champ Amp is worth nearly twice as much. They really missed it with this one. Still kind of cool in it's own way.
