Okay...well every time I see this thread in the list, this goes on auto play/repeat in my head, so I guess the only way to exorcise it is to post this and play it...

Thanks. When I removed the plastic from the pick guard I may have messed up the pickups height.

Look what I found... Only 2 out of the three. Can you combine these, humbucker them?

I can't say I know, but in a normal HB one pickup has the south poles up towards the strings, the other has the north.

Maybe hooking them out of phase might accomplish the same end?

You have very good taste in cheap basses!! Is that an Ibanez Talman? I REALLY like the design on these, very cool indeed – and by all accounts EXCELLENT value!

    Welcome!

I've never understood the compulsion to immediately start modifying a guitar you JUST bought. At least get the guitar all set up correctly, adjust the pickup height and then just LIVE with the instrument for a while to get a handle on what you do or don't like about it. Otherwise you're going to be blindly buying pickups to "correct" something you haven't even identified as a problem yet. The pickups in your new guitar are good pickups; at least give them a chance.

Personally I like Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9/42. Thats all I'd change for now though

Play it for awhile to get really familiar with it. See what you like and maybe don't like. Then figure out what you want different and what will get you there

In other words don't just start changing stuff without knowing why

I was thinking of putting the Lace pups in my MIM. The Lace Gold ones have to be 15 years old.

Bowie's studio demo is so much better than Mott's release.

Yes! I put an Eric Clapton signature loaded pick guard in mine and never looked back. You can get a loaded pick guard for every famous strat player alive.
But YOU have to pick the notes yourself! :)

If I get it put in my MIM strat, is it the same as installing it in a Pro, Elite or Ultra?

Probably if the the thing fits. it’s an active circuit so, massive out put and with noiseless SS pups phooey, you can hurt yourself with a big amp.
