Currently I have two Strats in amongst my collection.

The first, made in Bexhill (in my shed/workshop) came from us being locked down for too long due to Covid - mostly re-cycled/scavenged materials:-

Body is 3 piece, full thickness (43/44mm) and cut from a 'scrap' lump of Ash' paint is reliced nitro in light surf green

Neck is 21 fret Maple (wood from a salvage yard) with a Rosewood fingerboard (cut from a Victorian dressing table I've been chopping bits off for years) and a bone nut . Tuners are non branded off an old Squier

3 layer vintage white scratch plate. Loaded with Ironstone 'Gold grade' pickups, CTS 250k pots orange drop caps with treble bleed circuit (still not sure on that one though), Oak Grigsby 5 way switch and Switchcraft jack socket the pressed steel bridge, full size trem block and tremelo arm are all Fender parts.

It's got a great sort of Shadows crossed with Dire Straits sound and just feels nice.

The second is a 2010 US Standard in Cherry burst. again, a bit of lockdown 'stir craziness' meant I bought this yesterday from the local FB marketplace. Great price, great condition and came with a set of C69 pick-ups fitted as well as the stock set being supplied. I've swapped them over today and the stock set win hands down in my opinion.

Other toys in my collection include another solid body guitar built from an abandoned mahogany dining table, my 2003 US Tele and a Gretsch semi hollow Streamliner Junior. I've also got a Tokai Thinline Tele in disrepair that was given to me after it got wreck in a car crash - initially it came as a repair but the owner didn't want to send the money getting it sorted - I'll fix that along with all of the other projects some day :D

Thanks. Working with wood is fun - it just needs patience and very sharp tools. The green guitar came out of me not being able to find a Strat I liked at a sensible price - I'm quite picky :) This one cost me just under £300 and performs way above that price bracket. Ironically, a couple of weeks after I finished it. The Cherry Burst one popped up for sale. The right colour, the right price - the wife said 'buy it' - the rest is history

Welcome! I'm just down the road in Kent, and @simoncroft is nearby in Worthing.

Expect a call when life gets back to normal and we get another Euroguestock organised...

thanks - it's kind of evolved and they all do something different and there's very little overlap. There's no favourite either although (for a whole host of reasons) the red Tele is actually my favourite :)

    Greetings from Worthing!

Thanks for drawing my attention, @nutball73 and welcome to S-T, @ak-25. I'm hoping to clear the decks at some point soon and finish a few guitar projects of my own. Both you guys have a visibly better track record than me in that respect.

Yeah, it certainly would be nice to play in a band setting again. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

oh, don't believe that - there are about 10 unfinished projects in the shed/workshop - sadly, 4 of them are customer repairs who have gone missing in the lockdowns. All of which need that final trim to finish them off. There is a '62 Strat I've had for nearly a year whose owner's phone no longer works, a 60's Martin who's owner has been seriously ill. A 70's Eko acoustic bass who's owner seems to have fell off the face of the earth and a 70's Gibson SG with a broken headstock who's wife doesn't know he even owns the guitar so he can't pay for the repairs withput getting caught out - I've taken to charging them all storage fees - normally I'd take possession after 3 months of no contact but Covid changes everything
