    Hi Can anyone advise

I have a custom shop strat that started to get small chips in the lacquer on the frett board
So after fixing it the first time the second time fender aust decided it should go back to the U S
Fast fwd 6 months and I haven't heard anything

Anyone here know whats happening in the U S regarding warranty repairs.
In particular how long is the wait going to be
I kinda feel like the guitar has disappeared into a black whole

Ive tried contacting customer support. They said they would look into it. That was two weeks ago. No response so far. Not very comforting.

Is this just normal should I just wait patiently in hope or push to get something happening

    Any insights would be appreciated

You need to be emailing fender I think they respond best to emails best. It shouldn't take that long.
    And welcome to strat talk.

I have emailed fender. Two weeks before first reply to say they would look into it.
Then so far another two weeks have gone by with no response.
Surely a few phone calls would be enough to find out whats going on with the guitar.

I would start calling them once every day and tell them you will be calling every single day till somebody can tell you what is going on.
And email every day to saying same thing.:)

Has Fender AU proved to you that Fender US has received it?

    You’ve been screwed.
I don’t know where your lacquer job was failing.
My ‘95 Strat Plus with a maple board had some chipping failure along the edges of the fretboard.
I used Sally Hanson’s “Hard as Nails” fingernail polish lacquer with the enclosed brush applicator to painr
the area that chipped. After about 3 or 4 applications I then sanded with 600 grit wet-dry sandpaper.
    It came out pretty well.

After some consultation re whether to repair the chip on the fretboard as its the second time and being a custom shop guitar they decided to send it back to the U S for a full neck replacement

I guess that’s ONE of the perks of having a Custom Shop…( aside from NOT having your guitar to play ).

That's it. They'll fall over backwards to make it right. But doesn't mean they're going to be in any hurry unfortunately

Yahoo the boss of fender aust just rang and agreed that we should be kept up-to-date from fender custom shop U S

So he's going to follow it up and call me and keep me updated.

Id like to know what there going to do regarding the repair and if I have any input

I'm leaning towards wanting a rosewood fretboard rather than the urethane which has called the problems

    What do you guys think

Anyway will let you know how it goes

Good luck with it, keep us posted... it seems like slow, poor response to me...

couldn't they have just got a new CS neck sent out to replace the faulty one? (too late for that comment, I guess).

Don't let then screw you around. Keep it friendly, but keep up the pressure.
