Got her home… string change and some minor tweaking… it’s pretty nice…

I had an Epi Firebird VII around 11 years ago. That one looks more...well....better.

    Thanks everybody!

    @fezz parka
It really nice at its price. Epiphone has done a more Gibsonish line of their stranger guitars. They doing a nice looking Korina Flying V. The Firebird just sorta grabbed me. It’s not something I would have thought I would like but it’s like a big crazy Telecaster!

My Firebird VII was quite possibly the worst guitar I ever had. An online purchase ..

Well it could happen… my worse guitar purchase was a Telecaster.. I had played a
Epi Firebird a few weeks ago and really liked it. But after I thought about it and returned to buy it it was sold. So GC found me another one.

It’s odd but it fits me. I’m big and it seems to just fit me….. and it’s kinda spanky when it’s clean and smoking when it’s dirty.

    Enjoy!

The Gibson version (prior to their headstock change), is hand's down my favorite guitar in my entire collection. I'm sure the Epi is first-rate!

I truly love the Firebird. I love the look. I love the fact that when you are standing up and holding it, your hand just seems to naturally fall in that sweet spot around the 15th fret where all my favorite licks seem to live.

I love the fact that it sounds like a Les Paul and a Strat had a baby.

    And the sustain....

Man. Plug into a good tube amp cranked loud, turn the volume up on the on the 'bird, put it in a stand and pluck the open e string.

Then go grab a cup of coffee.

There's a chance that note will still be ringing when you get back.

And it just looks so damned cool!

I’m not sure but I think this is supposed to be a Firebird V??? Reverse…

All that is what I like to hear! :) And kind of expect, from it.

It is a big beautiful guitar, and not something I would normally gravitate to, but for a change up guitar it looks perfect. I can't wait to get mine on Monday.

How is that middle switch position on clean picking stuff? Nice blend on the pickups?

I always get that mixed up.

    Is it considered a reverse?

Not sure how much it really matters but I watched a video of a guy take his apart and it's indeed a true neck-through, like the originals.

Yeah it’s a good in between sound. I may do some pickup adjustments later… but I’m trying to let it settle some first… the string were very loose out the box… and then I put a Pro-Steel set on and got the action down some. It may need a little nut work cause the strings seem a tad high coming thru the nut. Tomorrow is a day trip to the in-laws for the Holiday and Friday is that day….I probably won’t leave the house. But I can adjust and file on it then….

One of these was on my local CL for at least a couple months very recently. Eventually went down to something like $500, it either sold or the guy just gave up.

Should I have? Idk. Sure looks spiffy in these photos here.

See if you can find one at a GC or similar and play it to see if it's you. Then you know if you need to stay on alert.

You're already an SG guy, correct?
