Finally took the plunge and replaced my N3s. As much as I liked them, I prefer something with more output. Plus, I am a huge fan of EMGs.

Enter ....... my freshly installed EMG DG20

This set up is a beast!
It goes from classic Strat tones to an almost 'bucker like roar with ease.
I am still in the set up phase, as the SA pups are very sensitive to height adjustments, and the EXG and SPC controls are far more sensitive than "normal" tone controls, and have a massive sweep spectrum.

This set up nails Gilmours Pulse / Division Bell tones by accident. Eric Johnson and Knofler cleans are also a given.
Strat "quack" is in there too, just have to finesse the knobs a bit.

Overall, I think I'll be very happy with this new set up. Combined with the specs of the 2012 American Deluxe, I now have what I consider to be the ultimate modern speced Strat.

    Thanks @Chont and @CigBurn :)

I have to remake all my Eleven Rack presets. The EMGs are very different from the N3s, and all my presets sound kinda wonky.

Hmmm, hours on end spent with my guitar ... definitely not a bad thing :D

Hey duck, please tell me how you have these setup... mine are very high. Are yours?

    It’s been a while but I remember
Reading somewhere it suggested they’d be high

They are so high I hit them with my pick constantly

    @alderre
I have my bridge pick up very high, neck and middle pick up just a bit lower. I had to adjust my picking a bit so I dont hit the middle pick up, as Im used to having my Strats middle pick up very low.
But, I rarely used the stock middle pick up. With the EMGs, I use it often.

Lowering the EMGs give them a very lifeless sound, at least in my experience.

My bridge's are typically fairly high with my mid ad neck pickup lower. When in doubt lower tends to be a better bet. Too high and the magnetic pull of the pickups can pull the string into really strange ugly warbles.

EMGs have little to no magnetic pull and a small "field".
They cant be set like traditional passive pick ups. Well, they can, but the results wont be pleasant.

With EMG you should be able to adjust them down without any change in tone. I have the 60-7/57-7 in my ESP and I have adjusted them down to account for fingerpicking and the tone was exactly the same as when it was up against the strings.

I am not familiar with the EMG models you are using, but my experience with EMGs they are very sensitive to height adjustments.
Too low and they become unresponsive and lose much of their dynamics.
True, their tone doesn't change all that much, but their response, dynamics and harmonics definitely change.
Is that change good or bad? Depends who you ask.

I lowered mine in a test to get a more vintage tone, and I found that leaving them high and turning the volume down gave better results.
