How is it possible one person can find so much great gear? What's the secret?
a bad local economy
A crack financial advisor?
The Keebler elves help
I don't know anything about the condition of the local economy in the Indianapolis metro area, but where I was there for the Indy 500 last year, I saw a lot of attractive CL deals. I'm still kicking myself for not taking the time to go buy a Laney British made tube amp for a great price, and close by. It was a LC30-112 for $175, said to be in great condition. Of course, I was feeling a little squeezed after paying $300 for my race ticket, plus flight, rental car, hotel, etc.
Is he a past lottery winner?
I've shared the secret before, and it's no secret. I live in a target rich environment, I always have $200-300 cash, and I'm on CL constantly. I'm fortunate to have a job schedule that gives me either 2 or 3 days off each week depending on the week so I've got time to run around and get the good deals while everyone else is at work. And trust me I pass up a LOT of deals. Just today I passed a 2012 MIM Strat mint for $200. The necks sell for $150-175 on eBay. No secret, just diligence. I've got competition too, there's 3-4 other guys local that do what I do and we run into each other from time to time at pawn shops. We even deal amongst ourselves from time to time. I'm pretty sure I lead the pack though and can't believe my own good fortune from time to time. Matter of fact it's time to give back.
RE: MIM necks..saw a 2012 MIM strat maple neck on ebay, listed bu one of the "big" sellers, they wanted 274.00 for the neck..really..?? The seller's name starts with a S, so i'm sure you guys can figure it out. That's just stoopid imho.
Like Lonn I watch CL like a hawk..Paid off again, going to pick up a Nice mim later tonight for a stoopid low price.
It's not rocket science. Just a lot of work and running around.
How many guitars have you owned over your career Lonn?
Around 700. Slowing down at this point although it probably doesn't seem like it.
Groovy type WOW.
700 is two years of new guitar days..
Life is an adventure,
Lonn is bluffing of course! Secretly there are 10 Lonn's at work, at any given time of the day!
Even funnier considering I got a Classic Series 50's neck for $250 after shipping...
Living so close to millions of other fish has to help.
When I lived in a city of 200,000 CL was easy pickings.
The sticks not so much.
700 ?! How many have you kept? Anything good?
Lots of good ones, but I don't think he's actually kept any, haha.
