My dog hates when I hit a bend on the high notes. I presume because he thinks it sounds like a small animal dying or something. Everyone's a critic.

Can't comment on a dog, but the cat Winston that owns me generally just chills out and goes to sleep when I play. He grew up with it.
As you said, everyone's a critic; perhaps he's just bored?

Flips his ears around now and then. Otherwise he carries on like normal.

My dog plays better than I do and he says he doesn't give lessons. Sometimes he even yells "hey can you turn it down, some of us are trying to sleep"

Same thing when we had a dog way back, pretty sure he was trying to tell me I was bending off key - just sayin'.

That's the great thing bout animals
They pretty much give it to you straight.

She seems to like it. But then she likes too eat cat poop, so I'm gonna hold off on reading too much into it.

    Like @Mr. Lumbergh no dog...
    Just Charlie...
When I play he lays down by the stove...

    But
    Something of interest.......
When I play on the deck.....
    After a minute or two..
Two or three meat bees start to hover
They land on the head stock...
    Most unnerving....
Took me a long time to get used to it...
    I play slow....

Mine likes to come down during lessons and lick our strumming hands. She doesn't seem to mind loud guitars but she didn't like the drummer's cajón or cymbals when we had band practice here before lockdown II.

No dog, but Bart one of my cats usually comes in and hangs out around the amp when I play. My only fan!

If the door is left open our little beagle occasionally comes into the rec room while I'm playing; she sniffs the guitar and licks my hand.
I think she's telling me to stop playing.:(

My wife's chihuahua (kind of resembles a dog) like to sing along to certain songs, then it gets my husky going. If it weren't for the little critter my dog could care less.

I used to have a cat that would sleep on top of or in front of my amp when I played. Miss you Cleo! RIP

The beagle decided if I played, he'd sing...

Sometimes my cat will come in and yowl, then deliberately walk up to my leg and bite me.

I know dogs have the association with high pitch and howling......emergency vehicles often set them off too.

Same here! My cat used to come into the room and sit on top of my amp whenever I plugged in.
She either loved my guitar playing, or knew the amp would be nice and warm!

My 2 dogs will come lay near me when I’m playing my acoustics or electric guitars unplugged. But if I plug in they’ll stick to the room next door.

Weird though if I play (electronic) drums (and I suck), my female schnauzer will come sit close... wouldn’t think she’d like that especially with a live hi-hat and cymbals.

My wife says I lose all track of time when I go play drums... :thumbd:

All of the cats that I've had over the years, run out of the house as soon as I pick up a guitar - they don't even wait to hear me play :(

The only dog we have is an 11 year old Pom who, as soon as I reach a certain loudness, starts to howl. Not a fan.

That’s a Spinal Tap line.............’when I bend the high notes, it sounds like a small animal dying’. Classic!
