Just because it's the summertime doesn't mean you get to ditch out on your homework.... ;)

Question #1.... How many Strats do you own?

Question #2... Why do you have that many? (serious question)

Question #3... If you ever found the perfect Strat...would it be worth it to sell all of the others just to be able to afford it?.... Why or why not?...let's say for argument sake "the perfect one" is $2,500...asking for a friend...haha

    2. The first, my 2012 Am Std, was my first proper electric guitar; the second (1994 MIM Squier) I bought in Califirnia to practice with for my first ST Roguestock jam (and ended up bringing it back home); the third (Squier Affinity) was a gift from @heltershelton and autographed by several other ST-ers.

    #1: one
#2: I don’t like to have gear sitting around unused and as a hobbyist with occasional gigs, one strat (plus a couple teles) is all I really need. I am permanently tempted to get a second, maple board one though just because I like the idea of having a 50s style and a 60s style.
#3: I’ve had five strats so far. The current one (see avatar) is my “perfect” strat in every respect – looks, playability, sound – and it did not cost 2’500$. It’s an AVRI 65 that was on sale NOS. I have, in fact, traded in my previous one and I think that yes, having one “perfect” strat is better than having one or more strats you like less, if that’s the question.

I'm glad you still have pics before some of the names got worn off. that thing was meant to be played. before you got it I played it every day. the neck on that thing kicks ass.

    1) 3

    2) Because each one has its own personality and I dig them.

    3) No. If I found the perfect Strat for $2,500, I’d have 4 but I got one for half of that (less than half if we’re talking US dollars) and it’s about as good as I think it gets.

Yes it does and I should play it more - and play more, period. Once I get this damn cast off...
I've always felt I didn't really deserve that guitar - if there is ever someone deserving who needs it more, perhaps it should be passed on...a Good Karma guitar....:) but in the meantime, this cast comes off Friday, and down to the music room I shall go!

#1: 3 tomorrow (trading in a Godin for a MIJ 57), but one is not a Fender
#2: because for years I wanted a real Fender strat. First "strat" I got was the Melody Vintage 5300 my dad finished paying for back in the eighties. Then I got the Godin, used, as I was listening to a lot of jazz fusion stuff in the late 90s. Not that I was able to play any of that stuff...
Fast forward to 2018, and I decided to start playing again, with a back to the roots Strat desire. Got a great deal on the The Edge strat. And as I said tomorrow the Godin will be traded in for the MIJ.
Am I a professional musician? Far from it. I'm barely able to play in tune on most songs, but hey, this is my little escape from reality.
My wife is sort of accepting the Godin/Strat trade, as long as there aren't more than the 4 electrics at home (oh, yeah, I bought a MIJ 62 custom Tele this winter too... Looking for trouble you'd say).

#3: I wouldn't know a perfect Strat if it hit me in the face...

if you give it to someone, that's cool. that was the prize for travelling the farthest for that jam. if you had not came all the way from France,I would have had to give it to myself, because we drove over 2000 miles....one way. just to jam with some fellow strat talkers. only musicians do that kind of thing.

They're all different colors, have different pickups and they all feel different to play. Yes they all sound like Strats, but different Strats. I was very into swapping parts via eBay in the 90s and assembled a fleet of Partscasters from Strat Plus parts...my fav Fender ever made. The final set ups are done by a Fender licenensed tech so IMO, theyre as good as anything that left the factory.

Other than my late Contemporary model with a Kahler Spyder trem and 12" radius, I think I already own 6 perfect Strats and they're not for sale.

    #1. Two.

#2. They are both completely different. US Standard and Classic '60's.

#3. I don't think I'd find something much better than I already have but if I did, and it was sufficiently different, (and it was the right colour) I'd pick it up without a second thought.

    1. Three + one tele

    2. Two are SSS but tuned differently for convenience. The third is HSS.

    3. I enjoy the ones I have. I seem to have largely moved past the idea that some other strat is going to suddenly rock my world.

I may still acquire one more though to replace an Oly white relic I made available to someone whose circumstances made it desirable to let it go to them.

Yes, but 1 guitar played well trumps a dozen guitars played poorly.
