I never use them. I think it's personal, probably a phobia of screwing up the very origin of the sound. Here is where I'm coming from. Three out of four pots on my Hondo II are dead, they only work on 10 setting. Which is sort of fine with me since I don't use them, and I LIKE THE TONE. But the engineer in me tells me every time that I have faulty components, and I'm sick of this dude whispering in my ear. So I found this very nice explanation with examples https://www.premierguitar.com/gear/cap-and-pot-trade and it shows how even using different pot values with no dialing actually affects your sound. So I'm not sure if I should proceed with swapping out pots. I live and die by "Don't fix what's not broken" rule, you just have to define "broken" LOL. Yet again, my friends, I need to make a decision.
