    Dumb question.

I don't see any acknowledgement of the fact that Stratocaster is a very slick and slippery instrument and awkward to hold while sitting.

And I'm not finding any resources or sensible tips on how to improve the grip and purchase on the body.

There are few mentions of placing a drawer liner on one's knees, but I don't see anyone with the liner on their lap on youtubes.

Am I the only one with this problem? What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

You don't need to grip the body, you just let it rest on your thigh and perhaps stomach too.....

The Strat is the most easily played, comfortable electric guitar that was ever made.....can you show us what position you use? I use a modified classical sit down position kind of like this, with the guitar on my RIGHT thigh not the left

This below isn't me, and isn't a Strat, but it's an example of the position...you can use the small foot stool/prop, but it's not needed either in most situations.....

Do you play naked and all oiled up?
    I don’t, so I don’t have any issues.

I'm going to start sitting like this in all situations from here on out. Perfection. Boss comes in and asks me to do something looking like that and they will quickly realize I'm too busy and find someone else.

I’m surprised people are actually looking for resources on how to hold a strat. This seems like a joke or people really looking for advice on how to hold a guitar. What’s next, how to open or turn a door handle? No offence but man this is really strange.

I am sure there was a time when nearly all of us knew nothing and held our very first guitar for the very first time......and everything kind of felt awkward....until we found what works for each of us.....

If you’re used to playing an acoustic guitar, you might sit down with a stray and feel it sliding off your body.

    I’m guessing you don’t use a strap.

I never did. 20 years plus wrestling with guitars. Energy that should have into fingering. Still, I lay it across the left thigh and rest it on the strap. Soooooo much more better.

Remember a similar thread in the last couple of years.

    Utterly bizarre.
