No established players would touch that. Unless it was like experiance Hendrix tour
where they play 1 or 2 songs.

There's a pretty big difference between a tribute concert and a band reunion with a fill-in for the primary member. It's not as if they're trying to be the Experience without him.
As for Zep, would it be worthwhile if it was Page or Plant replaced instead of John? The fact they're using his son makes this even less of a similar situation, there's more continuity there.

It’s not a competitive. And Steve Plays like him more than he’ll admit.

I going to speculate @ThebiggestJerk that you meant a tribute rather than a reunion. There will be no reunion.

For a tribute Dweezil would be an exceptional choice considering the friendship he had with his mentor and he has that style down. I would also like to see Steve Lukather involved. Nuno Bettencourt also had a very good relationship with Ed. Pete Thorn would also be a good choice. Steve Vai because of the lineage, and Satch because it's in his DNA. I'd like to see them all involved in a tribute.

    RIP =\//-/=

Dumbest question I've heard in decades. How about Wolfie, That's his DNA and ability to play like his dad.

Both Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar had bad falling outs with the VH brothers. David Lee Roth returning didn't work out after a couple of attempts. So all that's left of the band is a mostly deaf drummer. Might as well ask when the Ramones will tour again.

VH is gone, unless someone wants to make a VH Revisited tribute band.

I bet Wolfie was left some rights to VH and I also think Alex wouldn't do a show without Ed. Just my $0.02

The Atomic Punks are a great VH tribute doing only DLR-era stuff. They put on a great show and the singer just nails David's vocals, look, and mannerisms.
But a tribute band is also a totally different animal than a reunion with the key member missing, too.

Tribute shows are all over the place and have been for years.
I was invited to join an AC/DC tribute band 15 years ago... simply didn't have the time for a regular gig.

Zep? 3 of the 4 original members are still alive. The Who continued for decades after we lost Keith Moon.
Everyone said that The Grateful Dead were "done" when Pigpen died, some said that they would continue after we lost Garcia.
AC/DC still at it... without two of the original members.

But people went to see The Who because of Daltry and Townsend.
People went to see the Dead and probably had no idea who was on stage :D
People went to see Van Halen because of Eddie.
Van Halen without Eddie is Zep without Plant or Page... how long did Coverdale/Page last? How long did Plant's solo project last?

In retrospect, perhaps Zep could/should have continued, and I'm sure Page's addiction problems, combined with those same problems leading to the loss of Bonham, were a factor in Zep not continuing.

Just have 2 hours of Steel Panther covering VH hits (they used to be a VH tribute band after all).

Singer is a million miles better than the clown that is DLR, Satchel on guitar is superb.

Yeah that's how they stayed a successful band through multiple lead singer changes- it was all about Ed.

I was actually dissapointed in Daltry & Townsend for continuing as The Who after the passing of Entwistle. I though they should have branded themselves as "Daltry & Townsend" like "Page & Plant".

I actually went to see them BECAUSE of Entwistle. I know I'm in the minority on that though...

No one could fill in for Eddie van Halen.

Are there players who could "technically" pull it off? Yeah sure.
There are 9 year old kids on YouTube that can play eruption better than the guy who wrote it.

Nobody can replace ed van halen.

I don't think you're in the minority on that. Entwistle was pretty friggin incredible.

DLR and Sammy will continue to play Van Halen songs in their respective bands. I think that's as close as we'll get to any sort of reunion.

I think Satriani is too often overlooked. People think of him and Vai together and are distracted by Vai's (amazing) pyrotechnics, but Satriani has far more musical taste, I think. I question whether Vai could back up a singer this well:
