I recently tried 9s instead of 10s ... after one week I changed out the 6th 5th and 4th strings back , I play blues and the 9s just seemed twangy.

I’ve decided to do that about a million times.

Then I go back to them

I tried 10's and they just didn't work for me, 9's all the way. Gotta go with what feels best to you.

One exception though, my recently bought Gretsch came with 11's and that was way too stiff for me so I put 10's on and am gonna see how that goes.

I normally use 10s... But there is the 9.5s. I will have to see if Elixer has a set with 9.5s.

I like the idea of the "in between" gauges.
I'd be curious to try a balanced tension set in pure nickel or NPS for short(er) scale guitars.

11s feel fine as long as you're tuned down a whole step. Then they're about like 9s tuned to standard.

And why do 9s come with an 11 B string and then they jump to 16? 12 is what's in the equal tension sets and feels a lot better, not to mention buzzing less. I've stocked up on a couple dozen 0.012" strings and use those instead. Anyone want the 0.011" strings I'm collecting?

I like .010 to .046 for regular guitars.
    .009-.042 for Metal/Shreddy Guitars.

I use 9"s on everything. These old fingers appreciate the limber feel. ENJOY!!!

Been on 11's for about the last year maybe? Couldn't be happier.

I say find the gauge and brand that works for you on every level and go for it.

And to think that after talking with B B King, Billy Gibbons started using 0.07s
