I had a dog that use to eat those, loved them.
Dogs gone now, the hornets keep my tomatoes safe.
Oh and dog didn't die from the bugs, girlfriend ran off with him... no lie.
That's a tobacco worm.
Here in Jersey we also call them tomato worms .
They then turn into a hummingbird moth!

If he was, he was a tobacco worm that loved my tomato plants.
When I was a kid living on a farm we raised tobacco. We couldn't keep them off the tobacco leaves. We sprayed but they kept coming back. I used to turn them inside out on a stick and chase the girls with them.
I used to do that too!
