Things were going great and I was about 4 months from retirement then I blew out my right shoulder... Still going through the test but I may have partially ruptured one of my biceps tendons. We were about to go into the studio to lay down tracks but heck I can't even put my arm over the guitar. Crap happens, I'll just flow though the set back and come out stronger in the end. Not looking for sympathy just saying at any given moment in our lives we can have unforeseen obstacles that will give challenges.
Very sorry to hear that. Hope it heals super fast. Be careful to not overdo when it starts getting better.
Go see an Orthopedic Surgeon if you have not done so already. This is from the “been there” department. No kidding
Bon Courage @jrbirdman I wish you a speedy recovery, and offer you a swap. My right shoulder is non functional. Had to give up my dreams of becoming a catcher in the circus trapeze about 16 years ago.
I was removing a fitting on a liquid nitrogen tank. I was in an awkward position due to the location of the fitting and I couldn't get my body weight behind me so all the torque came from my shoulder. The fitting was tight and I keep torqueing until I heard and felt a POP.
Seen the doctor and a PT. Waiting for the phone call to set up an ultra sound to have more info for the orthopedic surgeon. So all of the medical people can get into the money pool they'll have me see as many people as possible before anything really gets done.
Been there with both shoulders. On one, they cut the tendon where it attaches in the back, and screwed it to the bone on my arm. Relax. You will get through this and be better than ever. I was playing guitar after about 6 weeks. Just do the physical therapy and you will be ok. I also had to have the joint surfaces planed due to arthritis. I’m 51 and have the body of ann80 year old.
