Sorry to hear that, man! Follow all medical advice to the letter, be super diligent about your rehab, and you will be back in business. I didn't mention it here, but back in June I tore the tendon that connects to the tip of my middle finger on my fretting hand. My fingertip was pointing at the floor and I couldn't straighten it. But I saw a specialist and I was the best damn patient she's ever had, mostly because I was terrified of the prospect of never playing guitar again. Fast forward 3 months, and my finger is like 90% healed and I'm back to playing gigs again like nothing happened. It is possible - you can do it! I'll be pulling for you.
Hi jbirdman, hope it heals thoroughly and quickly, it’s a real bummer you can’t play guitar right now but hopefully sooner rather than later, be sure to follow the expert advice for rehabilitation Not trying to overshadow your injury but you are right about the challenges that wait just round the corner - I was diagnosed with bowel cancer today, such is life , let the fight begin.
My problem is miner compared to what you are going to be going through...I wish you well and thank you
Hang in there! I had a right bicep tendon tenodesis in June. (Cut it off the bone, remove the jacked up part, drill a hole in your humorous, and attach it there, FUN) I can finally play for a reasonable amount of time. Still on light duty at work, doing physical therapy. It’s a long haul. If you want to ask any questions about my experience, feel free to PM me. Take care.
I got better. Still missing most of my rotator cuff. Not as drastic as other have experienced but it does get better. You will get better too. No swinging on the monkey bars for awhile.
No bueno compadre! My dad ripped his bicep off the bone it looked like a chicken wing. he had a surgical repair and he’s good as ever still building and hanging signs at 62! (Not giving any medical suggestions)
