I freaking love my SP Comp! I was surprised it wasn’t mentioned sooner in this thread.

If you can scratch up a few extra dollars, I'd highly recommend the Drybell Unit 67. You'd be getting a great boost pedal with a two band EQ, and one of the most musical sounding one knob compressors on the market. I had an Analogman Juicer, a Barber Tone Press, and a Dynacomp before getting the 67, and the Drybell blows them all out of the water IMO.

[IMG] It's green and it has a scorpion on it, so that's a plus it's also 29 bucks so if I have 200 to spend I am getting that and [IMG]and then have some lunch.

Boss CP-1X It blows the 4 knob away. The silent switch on the Boss pedal is the best ever.

I saw a local guy one night with amazing tone, caught up with him on break and discovered it was a Unit67 from Drybell. It's a compressor, booster, eq pedal that sounds amazing. Oddly, there's only a few demos on YT for such an amazing tone shaper.
edit: found the YT demo that sold me as well as another really good example and now there's more demos than when I was originally looking:

If the could put a RCA Ba6a in a pedal...I'd use that.

I never had one but thought it would be nice to tame notes that I hit too hard, probably from poor technique.

Too many choices, I got a headache from looking at them all.

Ended up with this one, because it looked fun. Works great, I like it!

“Dirt Sounds” will be my next record! Lol.

Distortion pedals add compression already so when you over compress and already compressed sound it usually sounds terrible.

This is the one that has impressed me the most. It comes with a drive pedal built into the other half of the pedal though. I prefer other drive pedals. The drive pedal has lots of variety built into it, but it is not my preferred sound. The compressor is awesome.

I had one of these for awhile. Like you say, comp is good, OD isn't much to talk about

@Stratoman10 , the overdrive on the Route 66 is very versatile, and can be made to work for me, depending on the guitar I choose to play. I just find it way too much work, tweaking it to be musically appealing to my ears. 40 years of drive pedals, and I basically don’t use them often. I love how I sound clean, but it has taken me until now to finally find a half dozen drive pedals that work for me, consistently, easily, that retain a true musical sound. For me it is the line of pedals from Mesa that work for me.
