When I started the journey there was...
Strats, just Strat...color varied, but that was it.
    Teles, same
    Jaguar, ditto
    Jazz Masters, yep them too
    Coronado, you guessed it
    Mustang. Bingo!

They had more varieties of amps.

Last time I counted was in 2019; 250+ models of Strat.

    Why?

Maybe a little off the track here, but I just bought a new Jackson Monarkh guitar. Very nice shredder, but guess who owns Jackson? Why Fender of course. Their offerings are endless I guess.

Yep, from now on tge should call all Strats ‘Stop’. Mind you, all my Strats are ‘ocasters’ so no confusion there.

At the expense of their customer. They have, or soon will, cross the threshold where their loyal base loses interest and reach the point where nobody cares.

I am always amused when someone creates a thread for the purpose of solving a problem with their guitar, and they start off with telling us what color their instrument is, or better still, the color of the pickguard...? Evident, it seems, that they honestly believe the color is technically relevant to the model.

Such is the consequence of creating so many insignificant variations of exactly the same thing.

I would love for a person involved in repair of...let's say cars, to respond to a phone call from someone seeking a tune-up or whatever, to ask:
    'What color is it?'

I recently bought a new Fender "Classic Series 60s Strat" body to go with the Fender "Vintera 60s Strat" neck I purchased previously, but since the new Vintera Series pretty much replaced the old Classic series then I essentially bought a Vintera Series body to go with my Vintera Series neck - but Fender curiously continues to sell these bodies as "Classic Series"... wierd!

Oh, and by the way, Fender officially discontinued the "Standard" models a while back as well, right? Then why are they still selling the "Standard Series" necks?...

When shopping for my last Strat after many years I found the selection confusing at best.

To be honest I stopped caring a long time ago.

These days Fender seems to place itself as more of a ‘lifestyle’ brand and that doesn’t interest me whatsoever.
