I do think I see your point, but I still love Fenders. I just do.
Didn't some other big guitar company try the lifestyle marketing angle? I have one of their pre-bankruptcy models.
That would be hilarious (the tune up, what color is it).
The only thing that would be more funny is if the customer says.... silver..
And the mechanic sighs.... "jeeez, you got the silver one, not good. Not good at all."
I use that "half carafe of double decaffeinated half-caf with a twist" line quite often.
All the variations are annoying to sort through, primarily for the purpose of talking about them on this forum.
However, the thing I find most annoying is how they have recycled names. Of course, they do this as most marketers would, to gain sales off of brand nostalgia, etc., But it confuses things. Plus, Select, Ultra, etc., etc.
I used to be a locksmith. Got a call one day from someone that needed keys made for a car.
What type of car ?
A small one
What kind of small car ?
A red one
All I could do was laugh to myself
It's marketing to each generation......I had only two choices for a Strat......new or used.
That's the best camp to be in, IMO. Make what suita your needs and play it. Don't worry about resale or what anyone else thinks of it.
