I friggin’ love Devo. I think they are a fantastic band and somewhat underrated. I absolutely love Bob Mothersbaugh’s parts, and Bob Casale was no slouch either. I find them to be extremely strange, and infinitely interesting and entertaining. Whew, it’s like a 1000 lb weight has been lifted off my chest!

I actually used to hate their whole schtick. I’ve come to admire their willingness to be what they want to be, goofy as it may be.

When they did a re-record of Girl u Want for Tank Girl, they did a showcase just for MGM's music department at SIR. 15 people and their significant others got to see them rock the shizz out of an entire set. They were badass.

FWIW...The version heard in the film has a female singer on it. The soundtrack CD has just the band.
Yea I have. I actually used to think they were silly, maybe too “nerdy”. As I’ve gotten older, I realize how interesting and original they are. It takes a lot of brains as well as balls to do what some of these bands do.
Thank you for sharing, Fezz. I forgot all about Tank Girl. It’s sort of funny that you presented that song; it’s a good example of their ability to make a very upbeat pop song that happens to have top level lyrics, with just a bit of subversion. They are a truly slick band. Mark Mothersbaugh in particular is a genius.

Tank Girl had a franchise potential.
But John Calley took the film away from the director because early showings of her cut tested poorly.
Script was fine...lead was cast well. Put together it was not good.
way back in the dark ages a really good friend introduced us to Devo. Been a fan since.
