I love the Beatles, but George is my favorite. I miss what he did. If you haven’t watched this film you should.
I was reading and listening to music and this song came on. It hit me so immensely. Intensely. It was like I was hearing it for the first time.
After my folks died and when the family and friends gathering was over I would listen to this song. It's powerful.
Hard to imagine but I'm glad they did, John & Paul turned down several of those songs for the last Beatles record. George hit a grand slam with that record.
We used to refer to him as George (without a need to say Harrison) back in the day- when we were talking about music. And generally, everyone knew 'who' we were talking about. Ah, the Beatles left their mark.
I actually titled this thread as George initially. But changed it so everyone would know what I was talking about.
The whole of this planet's population misses him Mr. D, whether they're consciously aware of what that sensation in their heart is (or gaping hole in their soul, as the case may be) or not. I too recall watching his hands one Sunday night in 1964 and thinking that I wanted to do that as well. His, I think, was the musical genius behind so much of the Lennon - McCartney mystique. A human thing that translated to his son, who gives a great deal of his time to people less fortunate.
"I Miss George Harrison..." I say that from time to time, usually preceded by a short expletive..."Holy ****" It's good that it seems he's getting some long overdue credit. He was so smooth. Rest In Peace George.
If you read the Geoff Emerick book about his time engineering the Beatles, George comes off as a so-so musician struggling to keep up with the geniuses that would be McCartney and Lennon. I'm not quite convinced by that take on it, as it seems throughout the whole book that Emerick was enamoured with Paul. But hey, I wasn't even born at the time. I have a deep respect for George Harrison, as a musician, composer and producer (films). Sent from my Mate20Pro withTapatalk
