    Hi all
Long time reader, first time poster.

    I need help.

I have a beautiful USA Standard Stratocaster which I bought brand new in 1987.

It has been my number one pretty much ever since.

I recently bought a new guitar. I had my eyes on the Noventa Stratocaster. In fact I saw some good deals on line and had it in my shopping cart at a store.

I then remembered the disappointment last time I bought a guitar online without playing it, so I went to a local guitar store to play before I bought.

I am glad that I did, because it really wasn't for me.

I have always been a strat guy and not at all interested in teles. But, I tried out a couple and ended up taking a Vintera 50s modified Telecaster home with me. Sometimes you pick the guitar and sometimes the guitar picks you.

I am totally infatuated with my new guitar. I am in awe of it. The strat just can't compare for playability nor tone.

I am now thinking of selling my strat and becoming a tele guy.

Help me please! Tell me what you think. I don't want to regret letting the strat go. But not feeling it at the moment.

The vintera is a great tele, top notch quality.

Keep the Strat, you’ll get back to it eventually.

    Welcome btw.

I have strats and I have teles. Both are great instruments but are also different things. I agree that a good tele is hard to beat and can really give your strat a run for its money. But eventually I think you'll find each has their place and you'll be glad you kept the strat. It may even be that you come to consider the tele your #1, but even then your strat will still have its uses and times when it is just the right guitar for the task at hand.

So I say keep both, let the strat take a break for a while as you really dig in with the tele. Like a good dog the strat will be waiting for you, tail wagging.

Seems to be the consensus- keep the strat.

I have been on a heavy tele kick, the last two years….

picked up my neglected strat, and now, I am in love all over again.

both wonderful instruments, both speak to me in different ways.

same with my lp, an acoustic and a classical, they all seem to cycle around and I use them all.

my prediction, as much as I love tele’s, if you sell the strat, you will one day regret it…

if you keep it, you will cycle back to it.

Let the honeymoon phase pass as its normal to be stuck on the new gitbox for awhile. As many have said its a cycle. One day your playing a Strat and the next day you find a Tele or your Lp or your Banjo  in your hand and your happily plunking away.
IMHO as others I’d keep both unless it was an issue of some kind.
If not play the heck out of the Tele and you won’t be shunned here as (conspiratorial whisper) there even members here who dont even own a Strat…..:)

Keep BOTH! They are both great guitars. If the Tele picked YOU then you HAVE to keep it. Like a pet! You will regret getting rid of either one.

You are new to the Tele now. My first was a strat new in '83. And I put it down for years when I got my Tele. Which is my #1 now. But If I sold the strat. I WOULD be kicking myself to this day!!! It's nice having 2 guitars. If someone comes over, you could jam, of teach your gf or kids. KEEP THEM!

You don't have to choose. I actually needed 2 teles so I could keep one tuned to Open G for Stones stuff....
