Any real need to sell the Strat? Need space or the coin? No? Keep 'em both.

So true. I've had my heart set on several guitars. Thought they'd be perfect. Then I went to the store and played one. Just didn't "fit" me. You don't know until you actually get your hands on one - setup and other issues aside - whether it works for you.

I'm in the "if you don't need to sell the other one for cash right now, hold on to it. After the "new guitar" smell wears off on the Tele, you might find you want to spend some time with the Strat again.

If you have a Fender Tele in one corner of your room and a Fender Srat in the other corner your Feng shui is good. If you have a Fender in every corner of a room the Feng shui is best. Choose wisely grasshopper.

What if you were to go for universal balance: Strat in one corner; Tele in the opposite; LP in one corner; SG in the opposite?

    "becoming a Tele guy"

    LOL

We are all always becoming, says Nietzsche.

You are a guitar player who's simply added another guitar to your collection. While you enjoy your new Tele, perhaps take the opportunity to treat the old Strat to a new setup, fret level/polish, etc, and give yourself the chance to fall in love with it all over again.

Who says you have to play one type of guitar?

If you do not stumble and fall while entering the room it is good.

They're very different: keep'em both. Fender has made any number of other models as well, all also very different, so...

Well, of course the tele is new and exciting (but also instantly comfortable because it's basically a strat neck). I don't think I touched my strat for a month or more after buying a tele last year.
One thing I can tell you from bitter experience: unless you need the money to put food on the table, do not sell a guitar you've owned for 35 years.

Keep them both. They both sound completely different. And one day you will say, “If I still had my strat I could make the perfect tone on this song.”
If you get rid of it, you will kick yourself in the butt with your own heal someday.
I really love my tele also and put the strat in its case for awhile. It will be like new when I bring it back out again. But, it will still be there!

I love telecasters! And that's awesome you're vibing with your new one. But there are some things you just need a strat for, and it's great to have both options to reach for. Enjoy the honeymoon, then after a while plug in the strat again, and crank it up on position 2 or 4. You'll be glad you kept it.

Quick update y'all been mighty friendly about my little side romance with the Daphne blue tele.
I just saddled up my strat for a session and she is a beaut. Sweet sweeet sounding.
So I no longer need help, I have 2 guitars and both are #1...
