I swore in German at my amp today

I like to clean house when my wife is out for the day mainly because I tear into the job like a mad man.

My gear is in our living room so it gets moved, cleaned and put back in place.
Once everything was put back to gather I fired up the amp to play a couple of nice loud licks before moving on to another job.

Everything lit up and then....nothing, no sound. This has happened before at jams and when I take it in to Long & McQuade for warranty service it works fine.
This has happened 4 times in the last 2 years...makes me look like an total idiot (some may say deservedly so).

Anyway I lost it; with a string of all the profanity in German I could think of directed at the Hughes & Kettner Deluxe 40 I ended my tirade with a smack to it's top.
Darn if it didn't spring to life!

Good thing the wife was out as she is of German extraction.:whistling:

A quote that I heard was attributed to Humphrey Bogart, possibly in-character, but don’t really know.
I hope that the women here give me some slack on this.

“I never met a broad that didn’t understand a slap in the mouth,
    - or a slug from a .45”

I used to have a truck headlight like that. It'd stop working, a little smack on the fender behind it and let there be light. Come to think of it I had a Peavey amp that did that for years.

I wonder what it is with that series though. My TM36 never complains about anything. I put new tubes in it maybe two months after I got it and it chugs right along

Spouse will not permit my swearing in other languages. Especially Japanese. She says I lack the proper finesse to do such noble words justice.

    So I'm limited to English.

I've asked that she teach the proper diction for such things and I get the "just what kind of person do you take me for?" look. I made the mistake of answering her once.

    Once.

After the wires were removed from my jaw, I was able to manage soup rather successfully.

Fortunately my amplifiers are of US and Chinese extraction. The US amps haven't required stern language and the Chinese amp simply asks if I'd like that to go?
