    Hey people,

I've got a SCXD for sale on CL. Only two nibbles so far in about a month, and I've lowered the price to what I would have been asking pre-'rona. I'm also noticing a bunch of other people's stuff stagnating and prices coming down. I was selling stuff in hours rather than weeks about a year ago. Is the buying/selling insanity finally over?

Personally, I fully indulged my GAS like never before; ended up with half-a-dozen more guitars, a couple of the best amps I've ever owned, and a couple of new pedals. Of course I sold a bunch of stuff too. Last four months or so though I finally feel pretty much GASed out.

It will be nice if everything slows down a bit. So what do you guys think? Is it over? Are prices going to come down?

I bought a lot of stuff, but returned or sold the stuff I wasn't all that thrilled with.

Seems like it. I read the press with the guitar is dead whizz again. And auctions on guitars were once frenzy is really slow. A guy last week thought he would do better by stripping his 75 strat and selling it
. 1800. Final. Few bidders. Chicago music exchange tells me the same. Once the fed quits propping up the economy and starts raising interest rates we will see a correction. Long overdue, let’s hope it’s not long and devastating and spiral into some new kind of hell

I’ve bought and sold quite a bit (mostly guitars) over the last few years. Not pandemic related. I’ve just come up on some really good gear that filed some sonic voids in my stable.
overall pretty happy with what I’ve gained and given up.
    Now on to amp land…

I think I bought too much gear in the last little while. I hadn’t really thought much of it until this thread so I looked up everything, by my photo album. This is the stuff that I kept and only stuff that is larger, no idea how many pedals I bought. Oops.

I’ve bought and sold a lot of guitars since the beginning of 2020.
I don’t know how many, but since the beginning of this year, I have bought pedals. I have about 10 now, but I also sold a few prior.

I currently have 21 electric guitars, with two due to arrive Monday. And, I have one hand built Classical. I have not got any good deals off of eBay or Reverb.

I have bought a few slightly used ones from online retailers, and managed to get guitars with full factory warranty, for a lot less that buying a new, fresh from the factory, guitar.

These were my Kramer NightSwan, Ibanez Jem and Ibanez RG550. I saved 200 bucks on the Kramer, and 200 bucks on the Ibanez RG550. The Jem was 1799 new, but I got 250 off on that.

The RG had a hairline crack in the paint at the neck pocket. The Kramer and Jem. I got discounted because of things that were defects that I had to correct, so in that case they actually paid me 400 dollars to do the work myself.

As far as prices are concerned, I’ve noticed that there are many less choices available on Reverb at the moment, compared to what was available last year, and the prices are higher.

Where there used to be many pages of certain models to pick from, I’ve notice that now ther are only one or two pages to pick from.

In the last year I bought a $89 used Squier Bullet Strat, a $69 used Squier SE Strat, a $52 used Fender Champion 20 amp and a used $34 Line 6 Spider III amp. Total $244 (plus tax). Best money I ever spent.

I don't think I've bought any more stuff over the pandemic than I did before. Five or six items of gear a year seems to be my average, and that hasn't changed (I've only bought four things in 2021, but there's still time...).

I have tried selling a few things recently and I've not been having any luck either. That said, I never have much luck selling guitars or amps at the best of times!

    I changed my entire gear.
I gave a Washburn Parallaxe I got for a bargain to my brother in exchange for his Jackson Dinky (also owned by me previously and actually it is in my avatar - he did not bond with Floyd Rose). Then I sold Jackson and my Player strat to finance an American Series strat, then I bought a Charvel DeMartini (also a bargain), sold my Blackstar ID CORE, bought Yamaha THR10X, sold my Zoom G3, bought NUX MG-300... I'm on a spree

Nothing new in four years. I have all I need, five guitars, three basses. On the other hand, continuous purchases of transformers, caps, metal and wood to build amps keeps me too busy to buy more guitars I don't need. I do want to take some guitars to Atlanta to get them Plek'd though. And a new 1.75" neck for my Strat.

i have more than i need. in the last year and a half i have bought two 3 packs of strings! (but do need more now)

i have 5 guitars and will be selling 2 - an alvarez 12 string and a blue prestige ibanez s5470. and tons of other "gear"...

my tele will get stainless frets, my prs already has them and my 414 taylor will be the guinea pig for gold evo frets since the 414 has gold tuners and a strap button.

also thinking of selling my tone king imperial - not that i want to, it is the best sounding deluxe reverb i have ever heard ! but i need to get or build a micro watt amp for home use.

I've bought 2 guitars, 1 amp, some new pickups, a few years supply of strings (after which buying I changed size and brand), and a crapload of pedals...

The Tele will be going. Practically ALL of the pedals will be disappearing, and hopefully my days of wasting money like this will be over.

In the last year and a half I've only bought two guitars for my collection. I didn't need either of them but I only wanted them. Only paid for one outright too. The second was a partial trade. I couldn't be happier with them either.
    Updated RR.jpg Wolfgang.jpg
Now that I think of it, I did also buy two more. A Strat SE and an Epiphone Les Paul Special II. Those will be more for the donation stuff though. I did technically buy them so I will also include them. So a total of 4 guitars in and 7 out.

Since I'm a relatively new player I have bought a decent amount of gear in the past 2 years, sold some and upgraded, but i'm slowly getting there dont need much else. Plan for the future is a Telecaster, a P-90 Monster and 1 acoustic and ill be good for a long time :thumb:

I sold more than I bought. Let go of a '68 ES-335, a Tele, and '66 Bandmaster and picked up one amp.
