I thought I'd start a thread to honour the (marginally;)) second-best guitar manufacturer.

You don't have to post gratuitous pics of your Ibanez axes to join the society, but it will certainly help your application! :D

The 'Prestige' label on the headstock is a bit corny (hey, it's MIJ :D), but if you've got that there, you know you've got the goods! :)

This is my other Ibanez, a Vintage-Burst AF105 from the Artcore Custom series. It's MIC, but gives the MIJ guitars a run for their money. The fretwork and overall finishing are really nice. It's a bit over-lacquered though imo.

I moved your thread to the "Guitar Clubs" forum. that's where your "Appreciation Society" should go. The "Other Guitars" forum is for ongoing discussion, not "clubs" and you're seemed more like a club.

    Hope this helps.

I don't have one yet, but I really wouldn't mind being the proud owner of a J Custom S-Series.

Do it! You wont be disappointed. I have a JS1200 which is kinda similar to an S-Series. I had to crash a car for this baby. And I dont regret it.

I used to gig exclusively with a really cool Ibanez Talman. Still have it, modded to really hot SD JBjr pups, great guitar. Currently set-up for slide (well, my slide playing may be overstated!!).

About the only one I could see playing would be an Andy Timmons sig model - but then again it's practically a strat anyways!
I did do some studio work using a buddy's Ibanez HSH, floyd rose bridge thingie - played some live shows with it too - it was fun, but I found it tended to give me kind of a generic sound - very Satriani/Vai-esque - that, and I found the neck to be too thing for my hands. The floyd trem was a lot of fun though...

This one only has four strings. I really do like this bass, for a guitar player it's almost effortless. Very fast neck, good body contour, light, etc etc. Sounds terrific.

I wish I could pick up a JS1000 in the gunmetal gray color, but that much cash for a "hack around" guitar just won't cut it right now.

You know, abracadabra you might have this Ibanez thing right. I picked up an Ibanez hollow body electric the other day (forget which model, I could look it up) and it was wonderful. I challenge anyone to make anything close to the quality of that guitar for anywhere near $350 which was the price of that thing. It was extraordinary in every important respect.

Someday, over the rainbow, I will own a JS model. :D

I love the Timmons sig model. I'd buy that after a JS if I fell arse-backwards into a pile of cash.

This is a big problem. It's like €700 for the 'low'-end JS100, which has an EdgeIII trem (not very high quality), and the pickups aren't great, and then the next JS model is like €1800!! Seems like they could make an intermediate prestige-level model to fill the gap (and the space in my stable :))

The Artcores always seem to get that reaction, even from the Gibson players. Over on jazzguitar.be the stock answer to 'what beginners jazz guitar should I get' always seems to be an Artcore. They're really nice. The only major complaint I have is the silly lightning-bolt on the headstock. The one on mine is reasonably tasteful, but the ones on the AF75/95 etc Artcores just look....strange. I don't know why they put that there.
