It's autobiographical. After Stealer's Wheel broke up. Rafferty was kind of in limbo. It's about his journey back.

Indeed they will, beautiful song from an under-rated artist. Everyone comments on the amazing sax solo but I reckon Hugh Burns' guitar solo is up there with the all time best solos. Perfect in fact.

Baker Street was the theme for our student radio show we had on the local station in Millville NJ... 1979/80
Wow. Hearing that sax took me right back to the 80s on the couch watching tv with my folks.
