I haven’t been to this yet but it looks cool:

If you’re around Springfield Illinois area, They are having a special exhibit with items from legends like Miles Davis, Howlin’ Wolf, Cheap Trick and Earth, Wind & Fire, and more.

(below is copied from the internet)

“State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois” explores the state’s impact on musical genres from jazz and the blues to rock and gospel. The exhibit also features a working radio studio where hosts are invited to broadcast their shows.

Artifacts include musical instruments, Grammy awards, costumes, rare records, song lyrics and more, such as

    • Benny Goodman’s clarinet
    • Common’s suit from his 2015 Oscars performance.
    • Howlin’ Wolf’s harmonica
    • John Prine’s stage props
    • Dan Fogelberg’s guitar
    • An Earth, Wind & Fire stage costume

I live about an hour and a half south of Springfield. I may have to check that out.

    Here is some more info:

The exhibit runs through January 2022.
ALPLM is offering free admission to students through May 31. People who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 can get in free during May and June.

I also heard there are items from Styx, Smashing Pumpkins, Chicago and more.

Does the museum have a thesis other than "these musicians were/are from Illinois"?

    Not that I can tell.
The museum itself is all things Lincoln, but this new exhibit within the museum appears to just be music.
They must be trying something different to get more visitors.

I will try to make a short video when I go.
