Dad and I met Fred on the road with his steam roller years ago. He was just like on telly. We adjourned to the nearest pub and bought him beer, of course.

Loved this book as a kid

I sat in the kid's section of the library and read that 50 times, I'm sure. It's a great book. I thought of it a month ago, actually, while watching some excavation for a new house next door (damn it!).
